im trying to make a new burner for my tractor. it needs to be the same dimentions as a mamod solid fuel burner.

it has to be the same dimentions as the solid burner so it will fit in the new firebox. im going to have a copper pipe fixed in which will go from the coal bunker to the burner so i can top it up without removing it, which will be a right faff when its driving my threshing drum, and its a tight fit.

i want to know what the wick/webbing stuff is in the meths buner, and how much to put in.

You can use cotton wool as the packing for meths burners. Soaks meths well. I've used termite mesh from Wallace as the gauze stuff, works well too!

if you get a mop, (the ones that look like dreadlocks) and stuff the burner full of those strands

I made one by cutting a strip from an old flannel shirt, I used it a lot and it worked quite well and I dont think it even showed evidence of the cotton burning!
I sold it along with a SR1A and now am in need of a burner.

I stripped my first Mamod burner a few months ago.
It was filled with cotton wool so, I raided the bathroom.....
