Might not see much of me - bad news for me - page 2 :(I know I've not been on much lately!
This weekend is me brother's wedding, then after that we've got hay to make, and then harvest, with sheep shows, tupping, barn building, flock of the year judging, painting and tidying up to do.
In other words, we'll be flat out
So I might not be on much!

Whelp, it isnt your job to pick the lass he marries
Congrats anyhow, they might think different than you
Did you get more room at home when he moved out, or did you just inherit his chores?

James

Ye, I nabbed his room and put me PC in it
Not I've basically made it mine. There's crooks, binder string and all sorts of cack all over the place
Seriously, in me eyes she's an idle, ugly, ignorant shit who curls her top lip up every time she sniffs me sheep!

James, don't hold back - tell us what you really think!
Why does she sniff sheep anyhow? Most people would assume they would pong a bit anyhow!
Don't worry about this forum while you are away, we're a good crew on a happy ship and all that. We'll keep her on an even keel! Probably be loads of fascinating posts, great ideas, interesting new members and loads to read when you come back too!

Should sniff it when they've got footrot. Eee! Meks yer eyes watter!
Or when they're scoured up and you've got to wash all the sloppy shat off them and it's all splashing in your mouth - ummm salty!

my 2 cents worth .I am confused hay making is normally in summer. ram for tupping normally in Autumn as ewes do not cycle until days start getting shorter. we do not do the 2 at the same time and as for tupping you ring crutch ewes fanny and let rams out and leave them to it no involvement from us . does James have nothing better to do than supervise them .no wonder he thinks 1 of them is queer as I myself would not perform if watched.

LMAO!
Well guys, a bit of news meaning that either you'll see hardly owt of me, or too much of me in the next couple of days.
For a few years now, we've had this pony, Meg. We took her on from Bransby Home of Rest for Horses, who I hope see this message. If you ARE reading this and you're from the home, I'd like to know that you're a group of lying bas**rds.
Anyways, SHe was the kindest lass you could ever meet. Do owt for you. Always friendly and never ever showed any sign of aggresion. She were like me best mate!
A few weeks back, they took her back, for treatment, because she's had real bad laminitis before we got her and her pedal bone were getting really iffy.
They came round, unannounced, and took her. Without any warning or anything. We put thousands of pounds into looking after her every need. 1000x the love that they could have given her. And they took her. without a thanks, kiss my arse, or anything.
Now, we've got a call saying that tomorrow she's going to be put down, and there's nothing we can do about it.
Can't really believe it to be honest. I don't know what to think.
They took her away and now they're putting her down for no reason. Jesus Christ are they a bunch of pomous, cocky bast**ds.
Sorry for the rant/sob story guys, but I had to say it.
Tomorrow I'll lose a big part of me

Maybe they thought she was too far gone and they felt that she was in pain Jimbo.
Can't see any other reason mate, even though it breaks your heart.

I sure think/hope that Sandy is right. If the poor beast is in pain you wouldnt want her to suffer. I agree that they should have informed and worked with you when they came and took her.
I will sure be thinking of you Mate.

Very sorry to hear about this- sounds like its been handles/ communicated very poorly mate.
We all get very attached to our animals/ pets, maybe you should point out their lack of dialogue so it doesnt happen again to anyone else

Seriously, they've got the money. They're the 14th richest charity in Britain.
She's a bloody Queen from what she looked like a few months ago.
They even said they were going to walk her onto the grass to have it done - how I dunno cos she "won't walk".
To make it worse, she's going to the knackers yard about 1/4 mile away from here, onto the skidsteer and shovelled into the incinerator
I've seen it down there, holy shit! All dead animals being driven over and stuff

Jim, I'm very sorry to hear this. My thoughts are with you, son. But do I understand this correctly!? The horse was at your farm, under your (your family's) responsilbilty and protection, and they simply came without informing you and took her?
Was that legal? How dare they! To me, that's a criminal offense.
I'm so sorry, Jim.
|
James
|
Well, they take on horses that have been abused. When some of them are well enough, they rehome them. We rehomed Meg, and because she's still legally "their" posession, they make the important decisions but pay nothing towards it.
unfortunately it's legal mate.
Me mother's horsey mates are going to write into these here horse magazines and expose them for who they really are - lying, cocky sods.
I'm all for it if it was for the best, we've had 3 horses put down before. BUT we know Meg better than any of them. We know that she goes up and down in health but always pulls through. It isn't the time

... Jim. Is there anything that can be done? To stop this?
Mate, if I could be there, I'd ride shotgun with you.
|
James

Nope, fraid not mate.
It's just bloody stupid. We can't even have her back to bury (ok ok burying them is against the law but who gives a shit, done it 4 times before)

I don't understand why, if you were taking care of her, paying the bills, etc, why they would even bother taking the critter back?

James, I just read this thread tonite...so sorry to hear such terrible news. I have to think in the opinion of the vets at that charity, she was in pain and needed to be put down...BUT, they sure need to work on their bedside manner with caregivers like yourself.
Again, so sorry

Its a sad thing to have something close to you die, or be put to sleep.

Oh James, I'm also just catching up on this thread and I'm sorry for your news. We have horses and it is hard. One of ours is now very old. He's an ex race horse which means he was worked hard for about 5 years and then thrown out (now for horse years he is old). Every spring we think this is it. He's thin, his joints ache and he can't run at all. The sun comes out, he gets some good grass (plus loads of extras), puts on some weight and now in July he can give some of the younger horses a run for their money (well, one side of the field to the other).
The vet visits regularly and we've had that conversation (do we go another year) a few times and I know that in the next few years the vet will one day say enough is enough. I guess the difference is that our vet gets to see our horses all year round and knows what our old horse looks like in Summer and Winter.
James, try and believe that they do care and that the decision was made in Meg's best interest and not anyone elses. Nobody wants to see animals in pain or suffering.
When the time comes for our old horse to go, I know we'll have lots of tears and everyone will be very sad. Probably the final decision will be mine and although I'll be sad, I'll make that decision without any problems if I think our old horse has had enough.
A couple of years ago we were offered another field (with loads of good grass) to borrow for a couple of months and took our old horse their thinking a holiday and loads of food would be good. We went and got him back after about 2 weeks because we all (even the other horses) were missing him to much. Trust me I know when I have to decide to end his life, not everyone will understand. Some of the kids may even be quite cross. But, I'll do what's right for the horse and the boys will (given time) understand.
Sorry for your news mate.

Thanks guys!
Manx, believe me, we've made the decision 3 times before. That wasn't so bad. We knew there was nothing more we could do. When one of them ploughed through the gate, across the road and was smashing her head on the wall of next door's house because of a brain hemerage caused by ragwort, we knew it was time. When one of them couldn't stand up, was struggling to breathe and just getting worse by the hour we knew it was time. When our 1st (nearly 40 human years old) horse, one who was the closest to our hearts was falling over and smashing the stable walls down because she couldn't keep her balance and she was having the same problems as the 1st one I mentioned, it was time. She only took about 1/4 of the syringe, she was nearly there herself.
Thing is with them is we knew it was time, there was nothing more could be done.
We knew full well that Meg still had fight in her. If we wouldn't have took her on then she wouldn't have lived the last 3 years or whatever, they would have just put her down there and then. She's been 100x worse than what she was, and she got through it.
She were the kindest owd lass about, she always had a whinny for you no matter how sick she was feeling, and not once did I ever know her do anything bad to anybody, never kicked, bit or owt. I'd have trusted her with me life pretty much!
Just there was still fight in her, and they couldn't be arsed with her. To them she's just a number. We were taking more care of her here than she was getting there, God aye!

Sorry to hear the news, James. It is a sorry thing when bureaucracies

SympathiesMeg was a pretty one, sorry for your loss.
While I was reading your postings, I was reminded of having to put down Sugar, she was a cat, and that was 12 years ago.
Animals that we have around us tends to leave an impression upon us, I know that I remember each animal I have had.
