minor 2 inabit of a state

these pics are rubbish really need a decent camera and in the photos it doesnt look as bad as it is but base paint far from good and firebox fairly mangled and for some reason looks like someone has used marker pen on the engoine frame but am sure will get this looking good and running well again

boiler now polished, what was left of engine frame paint now stripped and polished and steam pipe soldered back on

wow the piston bracket fully polished and sanded etc looks pretty damn good....are you going to paint it original colour? if so what colour is it?

i will confess i did have to use my dremel on the end caps as brasso and elbow grease just couldnt clean them hopefully will be able to sort the base and fire box out today/tomorrow

got a prob i have tried to straighten out the firebox and its not working
plus now the seam which i take it is welded has mostly come undone

had a thought as i like me shiny stuff has anyone ever made a brass fire box as might have to have ago at making one

No reason why not Willsy, I thought my Se1 had a brass firebox, but it was a magnetic brass one    

Some Bowman Luton fireboxes are aluminium.

Only thing is that a bit of colour adds to the shiny contrast

Snap. I can't for the life in me bring myself to spray some old highland green onto the best engineered brass bit on the mm2. I like shiney too. So the purists can go and look at their original rusty burnt bits. Come and guys even classical works of art are restored and brightened up.

As van gogh once said. "I could have made a far better job and it would have looked better but I need glasses. I have some but I chopped mi ear of so of course I can't wear em!!!!"
