MM2 cleanupA few months ago I bought this MM2 on a dutch ebay-like page:
It still needed some cleaning, no repaint because it was all in pretty good state. It now looks like this:

A nice engine that has cleaned up well.
It makes all the difference when the baseplate is in good condition.
Your next Mamod engine will be more of a challenge.

I bet the edge of the flywheel would polish up better.

I've tried it with brasso, but that didn't do a lot. should i try it with very fine wet&dry paper?

I'll let someone else recommend something, but by the looks of it, I think it would polish up nice.

I am very impressed with it, but can you imagine a shiny flywheel next to that stunning boiler.

I do agree with you, and I'm going to give it a try to get it better soon

Polish, polish, polish the flywheel.
Brasso works for me everytime. It will cut through any laquer too if that's still present
