steamed last night-i think it has stood with water in for many a long year-runs like the proverbial sewing machine
johnreid

I bet others are better at this than I am plus I will use the peepers as an excuse. But, I would place it between 1958 and 1965

Now let those who know more correct me or narrow it down,
Wallace

At the pointy end of Johns suggestion, say 1968.

Looks to be riveted engine frame which came out then.

Not much later as the crank has a brass coating/plating

Nice engine
johnreid

I couldnt make out if it was riveted or not, tiny pictures. A free Photobucket account is definately worth getting as I am sure that we all would enjoy 800X600 photos plus eliminating the need to click to see.
Wallace

Actually, a good point on the PB account John. You reminded me of a post I have to put up.
johnreid

I am hoping to see more engines that Jacques acquires, it looks like a budding collection.
jakesm

definitely riveted green engine frame-the eccentric for the big end is brass but not stamped 'mamod' like my se3

I see now that thit is the riveted type, I do not know why I did not see that.
They are great runners. Probably the most bang for the steamy buck.
jakesm

the solder work?

yes it does steam up a storm!
Wallace

I agree with John re bang for buck. I have been doing some experimental steaming this week (vid this coming weekend) and the MM2 really suprised me.

If it's steaming fine with no leaks, I would leave the solder as is. It looks a bit messy, but doing no harm
