Model Engineer Exhibition 100th Anniversary 7-9 September

I am going to this event on the 9th. I went to it when it was at Sandown, and I was very impressed. There is going to be even more this year in terms of models I've already drawn up a shopping list

Digital Vernier Calipers (metric and imperial)
Somerset & Dorset Prussian Blue (for a project...)
5BA & 7BA nuts

I will be there on the SDLR stand with my favourite engine, the Richards Engineering 4-6-0 No. 771 'Sir Sagramore':

Before anyone asks, I will of course be taking plenty of pictures! For more info, here's the website:

So you're going to it on the 2nd, even though it is the 7th today??

What a great day out. Purchased my digital calipers, so I'm very happy. I also got TurboCAD V10 for free! Full report and pics tomorrow

Here are a handful of pictures from yesterday. My Fotopic Site has run out of space so I'm only going to post pics that may interest you:

This engine was built to the 'Bowman' design which I believe was serialised in the Model Engineer magazine.

This one I thought would interest Tony. This is a model of Stephenson's 'Rocket', the engine being made from silver!

The engine on the SDLR stand. Richards Engineering 4-6-0 No. 771 'Sir Sagramore'.

This is the engine which I think stole the show for me:

A 5 inch gauge 'Shay' logging loco'. When I first saw it I thought it was 7 1/4 inch gauge such is its size. Here is a closer shot of the Cylinders, truly a work of art:

For James:

This is a 6 inch scale Fowler. It appeared in Old Glory recently in the 'Road Test' feature.

For Jim:

5 inch gauge GWR 4-6-0 'County of Melin Llan'.

7 1/4 inch gauge GWR 0-6-0 No. 788.

If you want to see more, I will put all my pictures into my Photobucket account and post them up There are a fair few by the way!

OOOH A HALF SIZE FOWLER!

I love that County, aultough no one of the GWRs best designs in my opinion

Think i've seen that Rocket before

Aye post them all!

That Shays great! I deigned one in G1, ill probally never get round to building it. It used a SE3 boiler and 2 or 3 USE engines

I love that Shay, remember when you first posted it back in September. That sure looks like a nest place to have spent the day, thanks for posting the photos.
Garratt100

Yes, great photos indeed!

But, no Garratts there...?

Chris.

great pics Simon

nice to see 788 again, she visited Cockcrow in 06 and put up a cracking performence.

It always makes me laugh how it always gets loads of praise for being such a fine model, when in fact its utterly freelance!  (I asked the builder/owner, it originally started life as a GWR saddle tank but he got offered the tender chassis!)

Loved the pic of the little herd of Myford Super 7s!
Steve_S

Great stuff!

There is someone in the Dorset area who has a 4" scale one which he takes to rallies. It is based on a Foster. The next time I see it I will take some pictures for you.

The owner of the 4" scale version is Steve Baldock if I remember correctly...

Ian,
I did get just the one set of calipers
