Mooseman resigns as moderatorFolks,
After careful consideration I have decided to resign as moderator. As I no longer support the moderator system, I thought I'd put my money where my mouth is. This is not a criticism of the individual moderators, more a general feeling that the atmosphere on this board has been spoiled by overpolicing and infighting.
I will remain an active and contributing member of the forum, and look forward to sharing thoughts and experience with all of you on our weird and wonderful hobby: TOY STEAM.
I also remain in full support of the administrator.
This message will also be posted on the general discussion board, just so there are no misunderstandings. Please do not delete or modify.
Best wishes to all,
Mooseman

I'm also sorry to see you step down but accept why you feel the need to do so. Please stick around. This last couple of days has seen some very significant people leaving or reducing their involvement with our forum and we are the worse for it.
Lets hope things don't get any worse.

Since the gods of the board have seen fit to censor IndianaRog's and My resignations offered over on the more obscure Collections forum, I hope you'll indulge in allowing me to inform the board on a thread that should be somewhat more hazardous to delete or edit away.
Due to the mistreatment of those who post things disagreeable to a particualr Girlyboy Moderator we both announced we will no longer be silent party to the misdeeds of Spokesman and his lackeys. We've both chosen cease all active particiaption here on the Mamod Board. Member harrassment, wholesale deletions and altering of posts have become the tools of choice for a few of the less ethical among the board Mods. Who knows... your post could be the next one to be dropped or rewritten in order to allow a Mod to save face.
Mike...
I'm an old time web master....think twice before deleting this post. Public exposure of your actions, on a high traffic steam site could make for some interesting fun.... eh? Much harder to delete too. My copy was saved immediately after the button to post was pushed. Still wanna play the game?

Ok Steve
The only posts that were edited in the collections and pictures board was Rog's I only removed the swear words from the urban dictionary! It was a request from a fellow member aswell! Also it was then removed on Rogers request!
If you decided to cease active participation then why did you type that last post? You made your feelings clear on the collections and pics board Steve.
It is a shame that you have decided to cease participation.
Take care and thankyou for your participation, MM

Perhaps you'd like to revisit the thread... it's really MUCH more tidy today....(wink). In fact... Its downright sanitary over there. It appears maybe you've had a bit of unsolicited cleaning assistance.
Thanks for your honesty and the coridal goodbye.

Post deletionsGents,
This time yesterday I didn't expect to be posting again, at least not so soon. I'm doing so now because I see a misunderstanding I had a hand in, potentially doing more damage.
Some facts:
- a mod deleted some inflamatory wording I had cut and pasted into a definition from the Urban Dictionary...turns out that was MM and I thank him for cleaning up after me. Those words are not words in my normal vocabulary and could certainly be offensive to some members. My apologies in retrospect for using them.
- after several PM exchanges today with other mods, I was in fact the one who asked that the entire "munter" thread where I had jumped in be deleted...as it was continuing to spiral down negatively today for no good purpose. My apologies to at least CEDGE and Jensensteamman as their posts were simultaneously swept out by my request. NO one but me asked that this part of that thread be deleted.
- we've aired our differences and I'm willing to give things another try. I personally nominate Sandman to go an broker a peace in the middle East...he's a good hand with a warm heart and I might even try to meet him next month in Chicago. Thanks Sandman for caring enough to broker a resolution.
- Spokesmann...Shalom. If we both stay part of this forum I pray we keep our civility. There are engines to steam, pics to take, vids awaiting. We all love our brands but must respect one another's feelings. I'm willing to give it another go...I've even bought a TE1 to mark the occasion and still want a repro SE4 to grace my collection.
Sincerely,
Rog

Steve it was cleaned up because of Rogs request. I'm sorry that your post got removed but it was believe it or not done with good intentions
I will be sad to see you leave! You were goof for this forum and promoting Jensen steam engines. Maybe eventually I would have been persuaded to spend out on one....Less likelynow you are leaving though!
I wish you good luck for the future Steve

I'm glad to hear that you are staying Rog! You are needed here! All of our members are!
While editing your post I did it with good intentions and was not covering up anything that was said. I just didn't think it was appropriate for a forum that potentially has young members viewing as you know.
It was for the good of the forum that the Jensen thread was cleaned up and I agree with your request 100%!
Great news on the TE1 Rog You won't be dissapointed

MM...
Your honesty is very refreshing after what has been a disheartening 48 hours. I've seen the very best of several members made obvious while seeing sad confirmation of less admirable qualities in others. I suppose these same judgements have been made of me, by virtue of my own actions. So be it.
I can certainly say Sandman Wallace, Odilon and a few others have shown me unexpected levels of kindness and respect for which the board should be extremely proud. True gentlemen and diplomats, one and all. To those whom I owe apologies, I'll stand them here and say I'm sorry if my words or actions were unjustly offensive. To those who deservedly earned my ire... no apology.. it wouldn't sound sincere anyway.
I'm quite pleased to see Roger has decided to continue on the board. He's an absolute jewel of an asset to any group lucky enough to have him.
For now, my course lies on other headings. Sandman knows my true heart on these matters and I suspect he'd agree with my decision. We've been quite open and candid with each other today and I've learned to respect him on many levels. He's a man of sound judgement and a steady hand... not to mention he's quite a respectable wordsmith in his own right
I'll still be dropping by and reading posts, I just won't be as actively engaged going forward. Maybe someday.
Best

Dear Rog and Steve,
I'm delighted that you've decided to not terminate completely your association with this forum - we need you!
Also, thanks to everyone for your messages of support, please be assured that I AM staying on as an active member.
Lastly, Rog, congrats on your SA1!!

TE1 for IndianaRogGood morning/afternoon guys.
Back in the saddle on a bright and sunny day...
YES, I finally found a proper TE1, nut and bolter, but it will be a few weeks before I have it in hand. WHEN I do, I will do it up right on camera and video. For now it's got a long swim ahead of it!!
Spent this past week spiffing up a another piece of English handiwork...a Stuart Beam. Always wanted one of those and a good price was had a few weeks back from a gent in the UK...it arrived in good form a week ago and I have been cleaning, tinkering etc. with it since. I just posted video and pics on my website under "all other engines".
I have finally reached the point where I think I will get myself set up with a photobucket account...it is just so much nicer to drop in to check the forum and go straight into photos or a video vs. follow an underlined YouTube video link...
Watch this space as they say.
Cheers,
Roger

A nut and bolter, I hadn't picked up on that.
Don't do things by half Rog do you.

The nut and bolter TE1 was more a coincidence than me setting out to find one. I was looking for a TE1 YES, just so happened I found a nice one and upon closer exam YES it was a nut job!! I am not likely to build a whole stable of mobiles, but I like them for entertainment value when my grandson visits (of course it gets a lot of testing in between). I've got your garden variety Wilesco Old Smokey and it's a dandy for running around the shop floor. I wanted the TE1 vs. TE1A as I like them running more of a scale speed.
As for the Stuart Beam...that was just lust, pure and simple. Most of my stuff is toy steam, but an occasional machinist built piece is nice to admire the talent and time another more skilled than I put into creating it. The one I got was a bit drab in looks, so some primping is in order. Stay tuned.

It'll be interesting to get you're impartial view of the TE1 v Old Smokey, so far as running is concerned. I've never tried the Willesco version, but I think it looks great.
Stuart engines are the business, but a bit out of my league being, as they are, a piece of serious model engineering in my opinion.

TE1's, Old Smokey Roller and Stuart Beam...oh myHey Yosa,
When I receive my TE1 I will have to do some serious comparisons, though one is a traction engine and other a roller. I have been pleased with my Old Smokey for what it is. It does allow stationary operation via lever that disengages the wheels and it is fairly well made. I do like it's speed of operation, a slow walking pace, which I hope the TE1 will approximate.
As for the Stuart Beam being a cut above the toy steam world...yes it definitely is and I made a promise to myself (and the missus) I would fund it by selling off some of my engines and misc. stuff which I in fact did.
I liquidated a total of 17 items in one week ...some engines, some duplicates and some bits and pieces...all sold on eBay with funds coming in just in time to beat the credit card bill for the Beam ...I even managed to do it with a couple hundred dollars extra (which of course got routed to the TE1 effort). It was sort of a game to beat the bills!!! I highly recommend such spring cleaning.
SO, I'm revenue neutral, have some new engines and have created some shelf space...can't beat that!!! I do this from time to time to keep from getting overwhelmed with these little space eaters AND keep things interesting.
cheers,
Rog
