Titan

Unfortunately I am otherwise engaged on those dates damit!
James

Eeee that ain't good!
Titan

Good News! Earlier commitments have changed dates - I am now available, can come on Sunday at least! I hope its not too late to get in?
James

YES!

Errm well we ain't booked in yet! The spanner didn't send me a form (they've changed it to Steam, Oil and WInd day now)

There will be a free vintage bus from the museum to the working windmill up the hill, and then back down again!

Will be great! He's sending me an application form now, I'll scan it (try) and post it up for anyone who wants to go to send off
Steamgirl

Sad that I can't make it - it was a very good day last year.  We went to the windmill as well, but we had to walk.  I would so love to come this time because vintage buses = another of my obsessions
There's a pub called the Strugglers Arms nearby which does a cracking pint of Everards and an enormous plate of fish & chips, well worth investigating.  Someone also told me that the Victoria(? I think) just behind there was a good real ale pub. (er, yes, that is another obsession... )
James

Right ho guys

I've got the application forms.

If you want to exhibit on sunday 4th and bank holiday monday 5th (I'll only be there sunday), then let me know ASAP via PM so I can fill in a form for you and get it sent off.

Cheers and look forwards to seeing you there.
James

Nothing like getting loaded and then going someplace, dont get arrested for drunken disorderly, OK?
James

Well bugger me, I've had a great day.

Went this morn, got set up, was stood looking at the Marshall TE in steam when Titan pulled up

Then when I were walking through the shed, I heard a familiar sound of "Ayup me duck!", looked round, the one and only David (Stilldrillin) and his mate were there!

Then later, DLR came with his amazing Roundhouse loco

Eeeee we've had a great day, AND, guess who is on with buying a SECOND SE4
James

Everybody who came and looked at the stand were real nice, had some great conversations!
James

Just before the pics are uploaded... I steamed the SE1a workshop about 4 times, Bowman M158 3 times (straightened the crank, now it runs an apsoloute dream), Fleischmann constantly for 2 1/2 hours, Wilesco roller 3 times.

And!!

I saw MTA!

Erm yes I did!

I took your pic
James

There was another bloke with Mamods there, he had an SL3 that ran on air, on a track, with a setup so that when it got to the end of the track, the forwards/reverse lever switched over and it went backwards/forwards be itself

The Lincoln Longwool display (I'm donating a new fleece for the display, the current one is shoddy)

A Rose's of Gainsborough engine!

One of the worlds first packaging machines. The packing machine was invented and first made here in Gainsborough, hence Rose's chocolates, named after the Gainsborough company who made their packing machines!! This one is for packing tobacco.

James

LOL He enjoyed it, he was playing with the M158, he straightened the crank up and fired it two or three times!
Rob

nice pics james, looks like a gread day.

interesting piece of info about fosters. they made tanks for ww1 aswel as traction engines. the way to tell a foster made after ww1, is on the name band round the smokebox, there is a small tank on there along with saying fosters. learnt that from "steam giants" free with mays old glory.
Graham-Jilly

Say Hi to them from us mate
wish we was still over there
James

LOL They said Ayup and they wish you was over here aswell

Aye Rob! The Foster I drove was made in the late 30s, and it had a tank
bessytractor

my lordzzz give me a can of petrol and that tank is mine

thanks for the pics, made an excellent distraction from my English essay

I was especially interested in the SL3, sounds clever!

Who?

Its STURROCK

Glad you had a good day guys!

You done the forum proud again!
Stilldrillin

WOW! What a crackin` day!

We arrived about 10.15.
Almost immediately met James...... "Heyup ma duck!" (He loves that), then Mark, who was minding the table.

I`d brought along a few engines he might like to see, so he made a bit of space for them.
After a chat, I showed him how the hot air engine worked, and left him operate it.

I met Titan & DLR who were running the railway display

Then off outside to see the stationaries & other displays.

I especially liked this one... So much happening in every corner....

A conducted tour of the museum by James allowed us time to talk, and to get to know each other better.

During the day a nice young lady gave me a brass plaque!
Seems I was an exhibitor!

All too soon it was time to leave.

Another lovely show, with not enough hours in the day to fully appreciate it all. (Always the same, innit.....)
steamyman

Great pics James and David   .
johnreid

Les

Glad you all had a great day and thanks for the pictures.
steamgranny

Some people have all the fun
As I sit in my black hole, void of steam. Still, it inspires me to get my engines out & organize my own private STIA's
Glad you all had such a fine day & thanks for the photos!
