'Hi - I've joined your group as I'm not sure how else to advise that information posted on the Toy Steam Bible about the Brimo model Steam Engine is incorrect. My father created and manufactured this engine, which is listed as being in South Dunedin NZ 1966c.
He actually started manufacturing the first model (on wooden base) from his workshop which was in the garage under our house in Glenfield, Auckland NZ. I'm not sure the exact year, but I was still at school, so it had to be more like 1962-63. He sold the business when we moved to Dunedin which would have been 1966. '

Thank you to those who have responded to my plea to correct the information. As my father's daughter, I didn't continue his interest in engineering. He was a tool & die maker and long after his official retirement, his mind was active in coming up with ideas to make or improve many things, which is how the steam engine came into being. I know he manufactured almost everything that went into both models of the steam engine and he adapted equipment as necessary. Back then I used to help with the spot welding, but was a little fearful of his gas welder. I also used to help on the lathe, but could never get a steady flow with the spray painting.
I'm not sure what information I can give that is relevant, but I will try to remember as much as I can, and keep you posted. If there is anything specific that you want to ask, which might prompt me to remember, please ask.
Cheers from Down Under.'

Really nice collection
Stitch

I am liking that collection     You have a great range of different engines and makers.

As a kiwi I am very partial to the Aulds and the Cranko's. I do like the Cranko verticles you have. I haven't seen many of them. As for that crane - wow:shock:
scorpion2nz

the crane is of amusement when we have visitors as it is capable of lifting at least 250 grams which is the weight of a pair of pliers that sit with it on shelf the only thing is I have to hold the other end down other wise it tips up . One day i will get it out and find out what it limit is .

Love the Aulds, and of course the SW1 is nice too
