My first post and first restorationHi all,
I've just completed refurbishing what is possibly an SE2.
Here's a before and after many hours of work - an after shot.
Before - the SE2? and a minor (which requires alot of work, but will one day run again - does anyone know where I can acquire a new piston and crank?). I have done quite a bit of work on the units boiler, as it was quite badly damaged.
After - and before its first firing in 15years. It doesn't look like this anymore - now the boilers gone black again!

Welcome to the forum sarail.
I am intrigued by the Mamod MM1 in the backgound.
It might be just the photo but it looks like the cylinder has come away from its back part. I have not seen that before, it must have been some serious fire to do that.
I don't have the exact piston/cylinder at the moment but I do have an older type which I may list on ebay. If you want more details then please PM me. Is the crankshaft not saveable?
If anything does come in I will let you know.
Regards
Will

Thanks everyone for your kind welcomes.
Can someone tell me where I can purchase a new metho burner for my SE2?
As for the MM1 - I honestly can't say what happened to it, it was my fathers, and he's asked if I could rebuild it to working condition for him.
Can someone also please tell me where I can buy silver solder from?

Nice cleanup there, well done. A forum member here Chris(Flywheel61) sells excellent Mamod decals to add the finishing touch to your model.
I don't think silver solder is necessary. Soft solder is ok for these models and quite strong for boiler fittings.. Just don't run the boiler dry

Do not use silver solder on your engine, only use soft solder.
