steamyjim

PICS!!!

IM HAPPY[/img]
SillyBilly

Surely that's just a standard rod?
erikl

Congratulations with it steamyjim!
It's a nice engine. It might be a bit of a challenge to get a proper piston, but it's fixable.

You should be able to make a new conrod from a small round wire nail
of the right diameter. Cut off the head of the nail, then hammer a small flat on the end for the hole. Then solder it into the existing piston.

Im green with envy

Cheers guys,

I might have a go at fixing the piston rod first.

I thought you had an identical one G+J then again could be getting confused
Graham-Jilly

very similar but ours has the raised base so close but i would say the next model on from yours
this is ours
Mamodman123

Looks pretty good Jimmy boy!

1948-53 MM2

Someone has been busy with a hole punch too

Real shame about the rod near impossible to replace unless you can get a cheap 50's MM2 from ebay

That or as MJ said, make a new one
steamyjim

Got me eye on a identical one missing base and on a meccano car thing
Graham-Jilly

we paid £26.00 for ours but im sure you could get one cheaper if you look around

steamyjim

I hope so...

Postage is a bit steep though. May send someone up to pick up

Nice buy Jim, shame about the piston Rod. I wonder how that happened I've only seen cars do that. It might have been bent and someone tried to bend it back, and snapped it

If I were you, I'd really go for that one on ebay mate.

I can't tell if it's a brass flywheel though.

If you got that, and took the piston and cylinder (you might need both as they will be a mate, but just see), you could clean the rest up and sell on, and probably make your money back

Good luck with it
