My Jensen 75Got the battery charged on my camera so snapped a few pictures of my Jensen 75.
This is as I received it and I think I will leave it as is for now.
In the first picture I'm holding a Mamod SP4 boiler next to the Jensen boiler to give you an idea how much bigger the Jensen is.
Now just a couple more pictures.
Can any of our Jensen experts give me a rough date as to when this one was made?

Its copper clad that has been lacquered as a quick rub with wadding on the burnt bit on the top gives me shiny copper.

It'll be late 60s I think then mate
Not sure, one of the Jensen experts will be able to correct me if I'm wrong!

Tony, a couple of dating observations:
1) copper clad vs. paint over copper would place it in my mind as a very early 1960/1961 engine as the copper alone was used for only a short period after the hobbyline engines were introduced.
2) Aluminum ID plate does NOT have a "zip code"...the US 5 digit mail code implemented in 1964.
It appears in very nice shape...good buy for sure.!!! IF the sight glass has been buggered up with silicone caulking, the retaining ring, glass and gaskets are all available from Jensen inexpensively.

Thanks for that Rog, I'm very pleased with it especially including shipping from US to OZ it only cost me $140 OZ.
I probably will one day remove the sight glass and clean it up but as its not leaking at the moment will leave it alone as I'm a strong believer in
'If it aint buggered then leave it alone'

Very nice engine Tony, and in great condition.

I may just have to get one of these 'ere Jensen's. They seem to be the engine that everyone must have at the moment! Not a week goes by without someone buying one on here

You wont be let down by a jensen, dang I didnt realize how small a mamod boiler was next to the jensen 75, and to think jensen makes 3" boilers you got a 2.5"
Just be aware before you run it you may want to buy ALOT of WATER. Jensens are sweet and charming until you fire them. Then they turn into water hogs.

Spot on there Ranger. Get a Jensen working hard, and the water is off the bottom of the glass in 10 minutes.

Off the bottom of the glass and on your pants if you don't trap it

I know the feeling, I ran mine this morning with my stepper generator and it was about 2/3 full about. 7 minutes later turned it off.

Sure can
I once thought the SP6 was poor, Lewis showed me wrong and it restored my faith in Mamod!
Keep an open mind and all that

I once had to switch my #20 of rather quickly, was busy filming the thing, instead of watching the water
There was water still in there though

Thats a reason I do/dont like the older type of sight glass. Its cool to look at but if there is a bubble in it its somethimes hard to get out. Then I turn it off and shake it until its back the way it was.

Yes, I know what you mean, the porthole type is far easier to read, but as you say, not as nice to look at.

My Water Supply is filtered rainwater, that saves me a bunch. It isnt that hard to collect a considerable amount of rain water so if you are frugal you might be able to save a few cents, however make sure it is filtered.
