steamyjim

Can someone give me a rough idea of the value of the Midwest(?) please?
rangerssteamtoys

Thats a midwest model VI steam engine. It was a kit at one time, the preassembled ones are called Heritage engines and have a different design.

That engine is probably is probably worth 100 USD in the US.  However over in England its worth more since its harder to get.

You can usolder the flywheel and move it back so you can attach a pulley or what ever. Also you can replace the spring and screw with a jensen 60/85 screw and spring, It looks and works better =. If you take the boiler cap off the soldered piece should have threads inside for a mamod saftey valve.

Hope you like your new engines.

Thanks Ranger! I shall edit the orgional post

My Grandad machined the brass stopper in the boiler as it was orgionaly fitted with a philips head bolt which in my opinion looked terrible. Due to not having many AF (American Fine) i beleive taps we put a different thread in

I couldn't understand why they put a normal bolt in the cylinder as it realy needs to have the thread only half way up to ensure it doesn't unscrew

I shall unsolder the flywheel and probally drill and tap it so it can be bolted on

I'm not sure... i have 2 or 3 spare hulls but there not realy to a steam design. More not scale model deisel racing boats.

I'd like to get hold of the kit for the Midwest boat but i think there rather expensive.

I'm quite tempted to build it into a loco (BAGRS Basic-plans on net) or just make a nice wooden base and have it as a display model

More pictures just uploading onto photobucket now
