My Latest Aquisition, Bing I ThinkPicked this up at an auction on the week end, it was catalouged as a Bing. Anyone know for sure and how old. I would like to remove the paint on the chimney etc but I am not sure what is underneath. If it was painted or left in natural metal finish. Any advice or pics of an unrestored one would be helpful.Thanks in advance

getting beter mate was in hospital today had endoscopy and colonoscopy at the same time I think they shook hands in the middle 
back is getting better sick of being at home need to get back to work. they called in a contractor to do some of my work 
so I better get beter soon

Burner is incorrect, but the other parts are all original.
Yes it is a Bing, but haven't got a pic of an unrestored one. The cover of the cylinder should be blue steeled, aswell as the firebox. The chimney has to be painted, but has to be red and white (like the bricks were) The red badge on the smokebox is the bing badge, but has to be metall only, not painted... Will post a pictire when i find one! |

The burner looks very much like a modified Parken burner so you could say you have an Australian nationalised German engine.
This is an unmodified Parken burner 
Every Parken engine I've seen has a slightly different burner too so I think they just used what ever tin they could get. |

The paintwork should look like on this one! This is just an oscillation engine, but base e.g. should be the same colour as this one

A nice engine Paul and interesting to see the Parken burner with it, with a filler plug. Someone did the same thing to my original 1920's Bing vertical burner, .

Hey Cranko, is that reference to the repaint being a Sandra or is the chimney not the right one. I like the reference being to Sandra all things repainted in a gaudy awfull fashion.
