My M135'sA couple of weeks back I bought a 135 that turned out to have a dented boiler. After a strip down here it is with my almost complete untouched model. The dent in the boiler has mostly sprung out and I'm quite happy with the way it turned out.
I'm undecided if I should give the other engine the same treatment, it still has the decal and a fair amount of paint. I'm thinking a clean up and leave it at that for now.

I dont think I would do a repaint on the other, it is yours though,

id clean it up a bit and maybe fix the rust on the fire box but not a total resto

I think you're right, I only repainted the left one because there was hardly any paint left on it so i didn't think I was doing any harm. I'm sure the original one will look better when it's had a clean up. Just need to make a couple of oilers, burner and would be nice if I could find a chimney cap.

I'd say repaint the firebox, but the rest is great!

I would paint the fire box and just clean the rest. The other engine looks good nice job

I guess that would lift it up, I was going to leave the brass work as is, what do you think moose?

I would paint the firebox and the chimney cap and just clean the rest. I'd polish the brass... but one mans "dirt" is another mans "patina".

This one doesn't have a very nice patina, just chipped laquer.

I would try firegrate black rather that repaint, the stuff to polish up the black firegrates in houses.
It works well, and looks like the old firebox colour does. \
I would polish the brass,
Otherwise I would leave it.

As they are yours it is up to you, I would give the un-restored one a good clean and that's all, you can then exhibit them as the 'before and after' resto's.

You know what is going to happen if you restore it you will regret it
