My new Site OZsteam

I've just started making a website about Australian toy steam engines.

At the moment it has virtually nothing on it but I plan to add to it slowly over the next few weeks / months, with the idea of making this a one stop site for info on Australian toy steam as at the moment there is next to nothing out there.

I know I have the same template as several other members here but to be honest its the only one any good on freewebs for toy steam and I did look at all there other templates.

Don't get too excited yet as it only has info on the Kookaburra steam engine on it at the moment.

Started off well Tony! i'm sure it will be great once you get going
IndianaRog

Ahhhh, for once I got to be the first Guestbook entry in a new website!!! It looks fine Tony and your focus on finding and documenting the "lost" toy steam brands of OZ is a great idea. It will be fun to see it populated with more pics. etc. YouTube or Photobucket links will help you keep the megabyte load under control if you opt for videos too...which I think you should.

cheers,
Rog
Sandman

Great oaks from little acorns grow Tony.

It will soon take shape.

Have added Steamco aswell now
johnreid

Nice job, I like it.
SillyBilly

This is guna be great site!
Steve_S

That's a great idea Tony. It'll be good to have such hard to find information all in one place, and very informative to those of us who don't know much about Australian engines!
johnreid

Wow, that Steamco engine is quite impressive. I hope you keep adding to that site.
Graham-Jilly

Great site well done Tony
tmuir

I hope to be putting Weldon and Parken (photos courtesy of flywheel) and the Steamco Overtype photos up in a few days when Rog has taken some pictures for me.

I've got a lot of information to put up but just as much is still unkown so I can see this will be a long term project and more details will be added to it as they come to light.
Cranko

Good one Tony, Besides the engines you have mentioned are there currantly other engines being produced in Australia
Wallace

Great stuff Tony
Manxman

It's a great idea Tony. Any chance you are going to have a little section on NZ engines. The forum could help you with quite a few from there.

I was thinking about that today and once I have all my OZ stuff up will have a look at putting some of the NZ engines up but to do that justice I would probably have to speak very nicely to our NZ members as my knowledge of NZ engines is pretty slim.

There are a few companies that are making model steam engines but not Toy steam engines that I'm aware of.
I will probably add these model companies to the list in the next few days.

Hi Tony, Just looked at kookaburra on your site and saw there traction engine mentioned , is it due soon, last time i conversed with them they thought about mid to late this year, any updates

No updates still says mid this year on their website and that has passed.

Just realised I missed one OZ company on my website 'Victor' will add that tonight but they are so rare we are unlikely ever to see one.
tmuir

Have now added Parken and Weldon photos and the few droplets of information I have about these brands.
Thanks Flywheel for the photos.
flywheel61

My pleasure, thanks Tony, now we at least have a basis to work from.

Cheers

Chris

Great idea Tony, it fills the gap in the hobby nicely.

Well done.
Cranko

Good one Tony , have you ever heard of a hussinger or similar, 1 was sold to me some time back by an aussie called Kurt whose last name eludes me at present, looks like a parkin I think

Never heard of a hussinger but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
I had never heard of a Weldon until a few months ago and now 2 of our members have one.
I'm wouldn't be at all surprised if there are other obscure brands out there and they will only come to light when one turns up on ebay or a member finds one at an antique shop.
tmuir

Have finished the Steamco section with photos courtesy of IndianaRog
John Chapman

Coming on nicely Tony, a great idea. Hope you don't mind if any of us link our sites to yours?

No feel free to put a link on your site, all I ask is you send me an email or PM when you do so I know who is linking to it so when I get to my links section I can return the favour.

I've started on the Renown section but photos won't be all up for a week or two as I'm in the process of stripping down my Renown steam roller and repairing it.
tmuir

HAve just added some photos and info about Renown models.
Still need to do the Renown loco but don't have any photos I can use for that.
tmuir

Renown section is finished and have added another Australian company that I doubt any of you will of heard of before, but don't get too excited they only made a putt putt boat.

Oh and SW jealousy is the sincerest form of flattery.
James

I added a link from my site to yours, Tony

Thanks,

See my post in the general section about joining the webring James.

I haven't done my links part yet will probably do that in a week or 2.
tmuir

I've just started on the Scorpion section.
I have half completed the information on the Vertical engines with the rest I plan to do over the next day or two.
Stitch

Finally have gotten around to having a look at the site. Great stuff, Tony

Thanks,

If you would like one of these little boats you can have one for a mear $40 on ebay OZ.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ORIGINAL-A...Z1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

Its only 4 times what it cost and iether the seller has massive stash of them or they have been selling the same one for about 3 months now.
tmuir

Have finally put together all the variation information about the Scorpion Verticals on my website.
May try and do a new vid of one this weekend for the site too.

Now only got to do the info on The Scorpion Marine, horizontal, locos, and mobile.

Plus a couple of other brands.
tmuir

Just paid to go to the starter premium service as the free one only lets you have 20 pages.
Now I need to wait an hour or so for them to upgrade me as I used paypal before I can add my Scorpion Horizontal to my website.
