I made a little wooden man that sits and plays a piano when you crank the handle that what would be fun converting it to steam powered.
I've also got half made a dancing lumberjack that would be fun altering the design so I can drive it by steam......

go for it.....mine was a bit like blue peter as i rumaged around coverting a bog roll holder a old shelf and anything i could lay my hands on, it works fine with the se3 but what a clatter...next step is to put rubber stops on the pegs etc

This is what’s so great about this forum I can say im making a steam puppet and no one bats a eye anywhere else and I’d be taken away and have my brain steam cleaned…

The noise is half the fun.
I made ages ago a wooden soldier that is about 25cm tall with jointed arms and legs with a dowel out from the middle of his back that is about 25cm long to hold onto.
You get a long bit of plywood about 40cm long and sit on the end. Put the soldiers feet on the plank and flick the plank with your thumb, it springs up and hits the 'soldiers' feet making his arms and legs fly around and looks like he's dancing. Makes a hell of a racket but my son loves it.

It is a copy of an American pioneer's percussion musical instrument.

Have you seen CrabFu's inventions?

newellsmamods you have inspired me.
I got my dancing wooden soldier and have rigged him up to some meccano.
I'm at prototype 2 which I can see will need changing.
I'll hopefully have it running by protype 4 and when I do I'll make a short video.
I'm stopping for tonight as to move to prototype 3 I need to half rebuild it to give myself more leverage on the wooden soldier, to make it easier for my bowman to work it.

his inventions are doggy!

The missus says it moves like me after a couple of vodkas.

Love it.

These engines were all made to drive something and I think its something we all should do more often.
yosa

How mad is that? Love it, could have replaced Jimmy Tarbuck in come dancing.
