My Stationary Engines - Part 1

Now that we have removed the advertising banners I think these should be replaced with a Government Financial Warning that membership of this forum will lead to financial insolvency - I only had a couple of stationary engines before joining this forum and now do not have enough space to store my recent purchases!

All the following engines were bought via ebay, and let's start with some of my Mamod Stationary engines.

Minor 1

Mamod Minor 1 Engine with Red Window Carton, Pop Riveted Engine Frame, Vapourising Burner & Decimal Price Tag dates this between 1971 and 1975. This was purchased complete in great condition and runs well.

Minor 2

Mamod Minor 2 Engine with Red Window Carton, Pop-Riveted Engine Frame & Vapourising Burner dates this engine between 1967 and 1975. This was just missing the funnel (replacement purchased), again in great condition and also runs well.

SE1

Mamod SE1 Engine with Colour Printed Carton and Brass Vapourising Burner dates this between 1958 and 1962. This was complete and also runs well. Will receive a strengthening cardboard inner to the box and polishing to match my SE2.

SE1A

Mamod SE1A engine with Water Level Plug dates this engine between 1967 and 1978. I suspect the replacement SP solid fuel burner replaced a vapourising burner, and if so would date it between 1967 and 1977, otherwise a solid fuel burner would date it as 1977. Recently restored to steam again and to be repainted with transfer in due course.

SE2

Mamod SE2 Engine with Colour Printed carton, & Brass vapourising burner dates this between 1958 and 1962. This was purchased complete and runs reasonably well. Box repaired with strengthening cardboard inner, and firebox to be repainted with transfer in due course.

SE3

Mamod SE3 Engine with Solid Fuel Burner and Water Sight Glass dates this between 1978 and 1979. This was complete and also runs well. Needs a good cleaning and baseplate touching up around firebox, and need to find out if this model should have a transfer.

More to come when time permits.

Great stuff Chris.

Love to see the collection building up.

I can say to the missus, "See, I'm not the only one."
Mister Occlusion

Very nice. I like the S.E.3 in particular. I've not seen one with a sight glass yet.

Great collection Chris and we agree with your warning comment.
this hobby may lead to finacial insolvency lol

Great engines Chris!

Great pics.

Yes your SE3 would have had a transfer but only the smaller MM1 type 'scolloped' transfer on the end of the fire box with nothing on the sides.
James

Great engines Chris!!

Anyone got a picture of the transfer on the SE3 as I've not seen one on the web as yet.

Thank you.

Nice collection Chris, a lot of them boxed, . The SE3 should have a decal on the front of the firebox below the chimney, it's the same as your MM1 one. Interesting to see it doesn't have one as they usually last longer thasn the other models as the heat isn't as great on the sides. These are for sale through Mamodman123 from the reproductions I have commissioned.

Cheers

Chris

Thanks for that information Chris. I've just seen a photo of the correct transfer through the USA ebay postings.

And now when I get the engine out of its' box again, guess what there's a transfer on the end of the firebox after all! Did not see that earlier when I was taking the photos for this posting. D'oh!
