My two BritsMy only two Brits so far Loco's images came out darker than what the true color is but true color shows on image of the cylinder . Anyone have any info on the Bowman loco? Bought it and have no idea model number or it's relative rarity. I know bowman locos are not that rare.
dose have the box but nothing else. Never been fired but has a little rust on bottom of chrome box
the green on this photo is what the entire thing looks like

Forgot to mention that has Momad stamped into bottom of black box which I think means was probable for the US market

Don't really know. When I bought it, it was "billed as a rare model" but everything on ebay is "rare" Any source to find out or anyone in the forum knowledgible about Bowman Locos?

That SW1 has the later type box. The earlier ones had white cartons. I have seen a few like the one above, but it's less seen than the normal white carton box.
The model was made from 1972-76. Changed to a blue and white in 1976.
To find it's never been fired is incredible really, they have shot up in value over the past year, then again so have most Mamods.
The Bowman loco is a rarer one than you normally see. I'm sure Moosey will know more about it

two BritsThanks for the info. on the wagon. My wife even likes it and she's getting tired of seeing steam toys. They never tire of purses or shoes though. I'm actually quite lucky that she tolerates my collecting binges.

Yes it is a Bowman loco, can't remember the model number but it is uncommon one and they tend to go for big bucks on ebay UK.

One of my favorites too. Been meaning to try and pick up an MIB Green SW1. Have the early six spoke SA1, the SA1L Limousine and the LB1 London Bus. Always been interested in the Le Mans Racer, nice to see what a twin could do.
Of course what we're waiting for is an auto release using the dual slide valve engine. Phil Gravett had told me he was working on one with Brian Marten, (of Marten, Howes and Baylis, boat makers extraordinaire).

They are two nice looking engines.

The loco is the Bowman 410, and it is certainly the rarest of the Bowman locos by a wide margin. They very rarely come up, and yours is in excellent condition. I'm very jealous!

Thanks Steve for the info. Bought it early and have seen others sell auctions for far less. Was billed as a rare Bowman but had my doubts since it had just one cylinder indirectly powering the wheels. Others had two cylinders, one on each side. Again Thanks Al
