My UK tripDates are yet to be set but my wife and kids will be going to the UK around mid October with me coming around the end of October with me staying for 2 or 3 weeks.
My wife will be staying with her mum and doesn't want me 'hanging around' whilst she is having a 'catch up' with her mum and sister so I will be off doing some site seeing.
Might even catch up with a few people.
Will probably have the dates set within the next 2 weeks.

Have a good time.
where abouts are you going?

Will be starting off and finishing in Durham, other than that I have no real plans.
Will go to Edinburgh again, probably a night or 2 in London, the rest I will make up.
Will be doing more of a shopping trip than a tourist visit.
Need to work out where my favourite model engineer shops are in the UK and go visit them too.

Be weary of Lincoln, I hear there a some hooligans that live in those parts.
I envy the chance to meet up with several people.

Oops that is a pity as we can not let you visit Glasgow then. Word is that the Pre-Grouping locomotives currently in the Museum of Transport are to see daylight again later this year as they are moved to the new Riverside Museum, which is due to open in 2011. That is provided it does not have a ceiling collapse, cannot turn due to faulty bearings or has a cable attachment failure (referring to our recent great achievements - the Scottish Parliament building, the Glasgow Tower, and the Clyde Arc Bridge).
Actually I predict that the Riverside Museum is going to slip into the Clyde due to poor control on the land that is currently being reclaimed on the river bank, and it will end up sinking the SS Glenlee which is to be moored alongside!

Well, Scotland is known for Scotch whiskey, so the whiskey part probably is taken care of, now if only the food was taken care of
Who needs good food if you have a good Scotch on the rocks?

| Quote: | | Scotch whisky labels contain the exact words “Scotch whisky”; “Whisky” is sometimes capitalised. If the word “Scotch” is missing, the whisky is probably made elsewhere. If it says Scotch “whiskey” or “Scottish” whisky, it might well be counterfeit. |
So that must be some Chinese fake whiskey that you are drinking John.

... ah, now that's a point to ponder, John! Yet why do Americans have to drink everything so cold, they can't taste it?
My bro was here a few weeks ago (California), and insisted on putting ice cubes into his Chardonnay. Mon Dieu!

Oh my! you mean the Chivas Regal Scotch Whiskey is Chinese?
Yep, just checked the label on the bottle, and it is spelled wHiskey those Chinamen blend some good smooth 18 year old Whiskey
Where in China is the river Spey?

Tom, it might be the high temps we must endure in summertime. My son lives in Arizona and it hit 118 deg. F yesterday. In such temps even Starbucks serves coffee poured over ice cubes. He told me even the cold water side of the tap actually runs luke warm all the time as the water lines pick up heat from the ground's surface.
Since California is just west of Arizona, I imagine your brother has been getting toasted of late in a heat wave covering the west coast of the US.

John, it would appear that Chivas must put this irish name Whiskey on your bottle, as all the stuff on the various Chivas websites that I've just looked all have Whisky on the 18 year old bottles.
Must be something to do with the import company, Chivas Bros. Import Co., Purchase, NY, and the parent company Pernod Ricard USA.
How about this poem.
| Quote: | The Bard of Banff
Whisky Or Whiskey?
A Scotsman who spells
Whisky with a n ‘e’,
should be hand cuffed
and thrown head first in the Dee.
In the USA and Ireland,
it’s spelt with an ‘e’
but in Scotland
it’s real ‘Whisky’.
So if you see Whisky
and it has an ‘e’,
only take it,
if you get it for free!
For the name is not the same
and it never will be,
a dram is only a real dram,
from a bottle of ‘Scotch Whisky’.
Stanley Bruce.

YIKES I had an E in it!!
A few years back someone criticized me for the H and I was thinking H and overlooking the E!
Sorry about that
Stupid Spill Checker should have caught that one.
Apologies ( sip ) I really mean it ( sip ) Ahhhhh
I guess I will have to suffer through some boiled beef sometime soon to make up for it.

I'm sure as a former resident of Glasgow you are aware of the traditional rivalry between Edinburgh & Glasgow.

Ah you mean the Edinburgh sauce and Glasgow vinegar divide.
However rivalry, etc. aside you will be most welcome to view my railway collection if I'm in Glasgow during your visit. Next week should see the end of my training in Aberdeen, and hopefully I can then get my work cycle sorted out.
