Thank you all. I feel humbled. It was my dad who was adamant about usiing wood and who made the fine base for me. I stained it using teak oil for a slightly tan vintage look. The Märklin shaft is courtesy Odilon/Moose and the Falk shaft was contributed Phil/Bugsy. Video will come as soon as I get home and hopefully my small Märkli will do the honours

Using the teak oil on the wood was a great move as it shows up the grain nicely.

Petri, that is really, really nice. I agree that the wood sets it off nicely.

That board is from a very large tree or 2-3 sections very discretely joined, I can't see any joints though

I'm overwhelmed by the attention my setup draws. I never expected to have anything like this but I've been lucky and had plenty of help by family and friends. The final trial is left but soon enough it will be done
