My visit to the Western Australian Rail Transport Museum

The WA Rail museum is open every Sunday from 1 to 5pm.
It has absolutely loads of steam engines, most in working order as well as a number of retired carrages.
It also has out the back the WA Model Railway Club which has G, Ho and N scale setups.
I taken my son here twice now and he loves it as he can get in and 'drive' the real steam locos and when he gets tired of that he can go watch the G and HO scale trains.
For those interested the museums website is
http://www.railheritagewa.org.au/museum/museum.htm
and the model rail club is
http://www.istnet.net.au/~wamrc/index.html
Whilst your at the rail club website go to the image galleries and look at the photos of the derailment in the pilbara, you won't be disappointed.

Here are a few of the pictures I took there.
The photos show most but not all the locos in the museum.

If you are ever in Perth don't miss your chance to go here.

In the playground section they have a very small loco that has been painted blue and converted into a 'Thomas' for the kids to play on.
It's funny you go to the model railway section where they have scratch built locos driving around the track and all you hear the kids say is.
'Look there's Thomas!'
'Here comes Gordon!'
'Percy is going fast!'

Even on the G scale the club sucomed to the kids wishes and bought a club 'Thomas' loco and a Clarabel carrage.
