Here's me entire collection (I think), minus the boxes!
There's a few bits missing off some of the engines that are kicking around somewhere in me bedroom but I don't mind them being off for the pic!
Collected over 2 years, with basically every one bought by myself
johnreid

James
Dunno, I sold about 6 or 7 to buy the SE4! I think of it as exchanging several coins for one big fat note
Sandman
Great pics Jimbo.
A credit to you mate.
I was thinking the same as Lew, but I think it's just that you've positioned them so close for the pics.
There's a lot of hardware there, and a lot of time and money invested.
Well done ,and thanks for taking the time to set them up for us.
James
Thanks Sandy!

That's one amazing collection! Whats the details of the steam organ? Thats a great sound for a model steam toy collection!
It brings back the smell of burgers and the sight of drowned wasps upside down in plastic beer glasses next to the beer tent at the Traction Engine Rallys I used to go to!

Very nice James.

well done James.
James
Thanks guys!
Thing is, like when I wanted the SE4, I sold a load of me engines. If owt came up like that again, I haven't got any more to sell (all the others have some sentimental connection) so I'm a bit buggered!

Know what you mean James, cant sell me Dads ones, and now have even more which I am attached to.
James
Aye it's a bit of a bugger! Some of me engines I'll NEVER sell!

I have one or two I wouldn't sell, my first ever engine SE3, Hobbies SE1 (sentimental reasons), Mamod SE2 (Because of the way I got it)
I have sold a few recently over the past year or so, removing some of the more common engines from my collection.
The time will come when the majority of mine say bye bye
James
LOL!!
I wouldn't sell any of me flatbases, me first TE1a, SE1a and workshop, MM2, etc etc!
Nick

Nick
A different thing, not an SE4.
James
A thing is an SE4!

Some day, James would part with any flatbase maybe even the SE4 once the right Lass comes along.

Drowned wasps upside down in plastic beer glasses next to a beer tent is one of the signs of summer!
It's a good thing - it signifies the end of 6 months of overcast drizzle and not even glimpsing the sun!

So wot about a ORIGANAL! mamod minor twin would you sell for that?
James
ummm, maybe! Depends!
kusuchi
James,
Just dropped n on this thread for the first time.
Wow That is a really impressive collection.
The 135/2 stands out, but there are many other beautiful pieces there.
I agree totally with your philosophy of trading out the more commonplace to allow for the purchase of the exotic.
Was talking to my father the other day and he suggested we take a trip up to Lincolnshire on my next visit. Apparently he still has a number of cousins living in the area he'd like to make contact with again.
One of them, whose name is Richard Lawson, (same as mine ) still farms in the area.
Going to try to coordinate this year's visit with one of the major Steam Fairs. It would be great to actually meet in person as many of the members as possible.

There is always hope when it comes to collecting engines, some of us have smaller collections than James and some have larger.
What counts is you like steam engines.
And welcome to the forum.
