Neat little camping stoveHi guys! Earlier today i found some neat ideas for a camping stove. Ive built two so far and they work great! So i thought that some of you would be interested and might be able to use this design in your large vertical boilers!
The first thing you need two clean pop cans and a penny.
The next thing you will need are the tools pictured.
And finally your favorite alcohol.
The first step is to draw a line on each can. Make it so one can will be taller then the other.
Next step is to roughly cut the can above the line.
Then make a nice finishing cut with some scissors.
Next step is to drill a hole in the middle of the shorter can.
Then drill six (or eight) holes around the edge of the can.
Next step is to bend the edges in as shown.
Almost done! Next step is to assemble the two cans together with the hammer and a piece of wood.
Done!
To fire it, put about a tablespoon of alcohol in the burner through the hole in the middle, then put the penny over the hole and put about a tablespoon of alcohol over the penny and light it. In about a minute, the alcohol should boil and ignite at the holes.
Enjoy! And if you make any variations of this burner please post them here!

i must give one a go! im wondering tho????? inside a firebox the meths will boil to much??? the little camp stove i use as a burner under my 4 inch boiler has a wick which tends to control it. i must say your directions are a bit easier to follow than others.

Mogogear used to make those for a living.
I'm sure he has written a thread about it.

Nice work. Let's see it go!
They are often called "Pepsi-G" stoves for some reason.

Yup...here is a good exploded diagram view of all my stove components
And a link to an article about building my stoves in Readymade magazine
http://www.readymade.com/projects/soda_can_torch_stove
Here is my smaller version made from Redbull can bottoms
Stove itself weighed 5 gm- with stand about 2 oz. Would boil 500ml in 8 minutes with 25ml of meths- The Firefly
That is where MOGOGEAR came from - my now defunct ultralight back packing gear company
They are fun and easy to build and never degrade and many variations--I am still using my personal stove ---10th year!!

Brilliant - I have a Trangia stove which works in a very similar way, but costs a helluva lot more!

That's a blast from the past, my Trangia, as around 30 years old, .
