The Stephenson linkage is a great feature on these engines, i never thought to try moving the lever slightly when running and i guess that is altering the cutoff slightly?

Exactly...but i must advice that you do not test it...quite fun and a ½ hour is gone in notime

That is very good control Jan, all you need now is a befitting cuffpot to replace that old tin

I am kind of attached to my old tobacco-tincans as they are some of the last evidence of my smoking days, and they have a quite nice deep chuffing sound from the exhaust compared to many of the thicker material brass-models i`ve seen

That been said...when i find the right materials to craft myself a nice pot i will make one that pleases the eyes a bit more

I like your use of a tobacco tin.In a similar fashion I use mine to store screws,nails,nuts & bolts etc. A reminder of my pipe smoking days.
