Nene Valley RailwayHad an unexpected trip out on the NVR on New Year's Day - I took loads of pics with my phone and tried out the black&white and sepia settings too. They're at http://s22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/ninarutherford/steam/ along with the ones I took at NRM York last year and a few of my MM1 steaming in the garage

I went past the NVR coming back from Yorkshire, the yard and station was packed with stock! A railway I shall visit in the future

Last time I was there, I spent so much time there they had to find me and escort me off the premises as I was there after closing time

It's definitely worth a visit - the bit you can see from the York-London line is not the main yard! That's up at Wansford. I've just looked up their website and it's been totally revamped and improved since I last looked. Sometime in September they had a weekend with traction engines and all sorts of other steam engines and a few vintage cars and bikes thrown in and they've got loads of specials this year including a Blues Night, a 40s weekend and a 60s weekend. I can see a few visits coming up...

If we hadn't had a train to catch, I suspect that may have been us as well Except that we were so keen to get in that we ignored the desk at the front and didn't see that we should have registered until we came out so perhaps they never would have noticed?
