New arrivals at Dampfzauberer's HomeNow it is up to me to make a little "arrivals" thread
This is what came today:
"I survived the german customs"
This was inside:
Little bit corroded, just like Johns Fleischmann.
Nothing to worry about, just got too wet i assume.
It looked like this after a short while:
Also, i received this one here
After a little cleanup (wood polish and oil)
Also a small parcel arrived today with this nice little thing:
Havo to clean up now.
All complete exept of one small screw (the one that connects the piston with the pistonrod)
Has anyone this in spare?

Wow, I do not know how the SE3 got so much corrosion on it! I had drained it well and have never used anything but distilled water in it, I think the Customs people must have left it out in the rain.
It did cleanup nicely though
I hope you enjoy them as much as I have been enjoying the Fleischmann

Nice, do you NEED that wilesco D-48?

Mirko,
You received some fine engines there...you made the SE3 and the Jensen 25 really shine nicely. Sure hope you like the Jensen, it is THE one Jensen to have if your having only one!!!
Now, lets see how well another parcel travels to it's new home in Germany

Thanks rog!
This is exactly the way i thought...wanted one jensen and went for the 25
John, there was no water in the mamod.
I believe it has something to do how it has been shipped.
I am thinking of airplanes, low pressure air...condensing water on metal parts and thought like that...you know what i mean?
Just the same thing as the fleischmann you got....

That Engine spins so freely and the flywheel has some "Girth" to it, I think you will be pleased.

Tested the engine on air:
The gasket of the upper watergauge mount seems a bit leaky, air comes out on the side
Let's see how i can fix that /hopefully without taking it apart)
Added some light oil, maybe it soaks up and tightens it up

ps. John, i took the boiler off!
So i could clean the base and firebox, also it was easier to polish the boiler

... wow, what a treat, Mirko! Wonderful engines! That SE3 is super ... ah, I can hardly wait 'till I get my next parcel!
Will you be using the D48 in a small ship or boat? Powerful little engine, that one, very compact.

Nice engines there Mirko, has the parcel with the SE3 in it been opened by Customs? Just a thought, maybe it had been sprayed out with some sort of chemical, as in all the time I've been getting engines form overseas I've never had anything like that. .
Cheers

No, I don't think this happened.
The woman who opened the parcel called me to ask the value of the "stuff" inside.
She said she hards took them out....
I did not pay any taxes, she thought the engines were model trucks ot railway wagons
Told her value was 46 dollars...she believed me

To the D48...
I only sniped it off ebay because i had the chance to get it cheap.
Will clean it first and try a run!
I have no ship to put it in...
I have to do some soldering on the engine.
One union-nur broke off the reversing block.

You took the boiler off on the Jensen? Do you need the Rivets to make it right again? It should take 8 I could get you some. Where does the Jensen need soldering? I ran it before I changed the heater and it did not leak. Most Jensens can take quite a beating and still not be harmed.
I think the sight glass might stop leaking with moisture, but they can be carefully tightened, very carefully.

Maybe i wrote it not correctly:
I took off the SE3 boiler....
And i need to resolder a part on the D48...
Just unscrewed the watergauge on the jensen and will put on new gaskets.
Hope this will do.

LOL I was really concerned, the Fleischmann is so nice and I did not want you to be unhappy. Mamods are easy to work on and also easy to break, the SE3 is a real fun engine and I am sure that you will enjoy it, when it left here it looked like it was brand new. It even starts on its own, You dont have to spin the flywheel to get it going.

Nice buys Mirko
That SE3 is a great looking engine Nice example.
I've never seen a Wilesco like that last one.
I've bought from John before, and he is an excellent guy to deal with I think those spots are as you mentioned re the shipping an condensation.
I could almost guarantee that if I packed something here in Summer and sent it to Germany or UK, a cooler climate, after it's trip it would get condensation.
I bought a engine that had no water in the boiler and hadn't been fired in a long time. The inner box and newspaper was damp and the burner was wrapped in bubble wrap that had condensation inside it, formed through the trip.

well done Mirko, some really nice items there.

SE3 cleaned up very nicely
I hope after fireing the boiler will tarnish a bit (i like the "used" look)
The Jensen's 25 leaking watergauge is sorted out.
No more leaking....
I hope to fire both engines this weekend.
The Wilesco is sure a nice engine!
I hope i can do the little soldering job right and put all back together and do a test run!
