Hi TSC.
Nice vids.
If you find it's priming a little, drop the water level from the start just a bit.
Amongst 2 MM1's I have I found they run better on different water levels. One can take a little more than the other.
I think one takes 65ml, the other 75? Just make sure it doesn't dry up when experimenting
Thanks for sharing, nice engine

It would look really good with a decal
Nice little minor. Try filling a little less and change the washer around the safety valve for a better run

Thanks for the replies guys, I think I did have a bit too much water in it, I'm just a bit paranoid because I've never had a Mamod without a sight glass before - nor did I know how long the little meths burner would burn for. All trial & error.
For now it's looking good sat next to the TE1A
Cheers,
TSC.

I'm just sorry about the crap paint job mate
Like I say, send it back after your lad has been and I'll repaint it if you want?

Yeah but I suppose when it comes to restoring them I am a bit of a perfectionist

It's probably a better paint job than on the one I got, it looked lovely but it bubbled and pealed off during firing.
I've just noticed that the steam pipe on your engine is going into a different hole that on my MM1. On mine the steam pipe goes into the top hole and the bottom one is left for the exhaust.
Is this a normal thing to occur? Which is 'right'? Does it make any difference whatsoever?

I just went and checked some of mine mc and they are in the botom hole

I can't remember what hole the pipe goes to in mine, but my newest MM1 (skinny evap burner type) runs "backwards"
ie, looking at the decal side of the engine, the flywheel runs clockwise.
On my disc crank it runs forwards, counter clockwise.
Not sure if it was a particular era, or someone stuffed up?
