I was just reading  the New Meccano Kits and a hidden gem and you keep mentioning the new type spanner, what does it look like, is there any chance of a picture please.
Ralph Laughton

Hi Ranger here's a picture for you!

...and some robots in tins!

The rest of the pictures can be found HERE - there's lots of them!

I just found and watched the spanner video, it seems to be a very simple but clever idea.

Hi Les,

Here's a picture of the spanner:

and HERE is a short video.

Thank you.

man thats cool

the spanner looks more like a cross of the spanner in the " Super Tool Set"of the lats 60s and  a box spanner

I picked up one of the M&S specials about a year ago, one of the diggers, and I was wondering when did Meccano start using hex head bolts??
Ralph Laughton

When it first appeared I thought it was a great idea. what I did not realise at the time was that it seems to be replacing the original spammer in all the sets. We just bought a new Design 5 set and that now has the new spanners - better hang on to some of the old ones as it looks like they will be no more...

Here's what we do to spanners... CLICK HERE

Les,

They have been using hex-head bolts for a while now - we love-'em! But the best improvement was the introduction of hex-grub screws.

I don't think there's going to be any shortage of traditional spanners any time soon. I have more than I know what to do with!
