Not so basic steam engine kitBasic Steam engine kit = not quite so basic!
Spent 3 hours making just the fuel trays and runners! This is because we find the quality of instructions crap! the metal is pre-polised so the drill slips and we didnt get one hole straight or in the right place! The manual says "Few power tools needed" We managed to sue the Handrill (to be exoected) the pillar drill bench grinder and Lathe opn several occasions! and its not that were incompitent in the workshop tws doing it with me grandad and hes spent 50+ years as a mechanioc/engineer! But pics to follow wen one cn be soded!

Is it one of those midwest models kits?
It's funny in the US what they classify as a beginner model and basic handtools is totally different from here in the UK.
I guess we're so used to being forcefed dumbed down tv and diy shows where the nearest to craftsmanship is putting a pozidrive woodscreW into a piece of MDF we have a different attitude towards making skills.
