Nut and Bolt Mamod SR1 steamingI thought I would give this model a steam today - I have had this example for a while but never steamed it, so that had to be put right!
I have taken a few videos and stills, I dont think we have had a N&B roller on here running. One mod - changed the lamp for a meths black base type - early rollers had no tow hooks!

Geeze that one moves, stay away from school zones or you will get a speeding ticket.
Is that an elestic band fitted to the back wheel for extra grip on the tiles?
You can't complain about how that runs that for sure.

Don't drive that one up the A38 Mike, you'll get speeding ticket from the mobile (bstard) camera van

Yes it is Tony - it slips like mad - esp. with a camera in the wagon!

How does your conscience cope, must be a good account from the money they make from strategically placing cameras to maximise income

Nice one Mike
There's no mistaking the sound of those aluminium rollers, and as for the speed, yes typical SR1

My SR1A hasn't run for a while, as I don't have enough meths! Plus I don't want to run her on surfaces that could damage her rollers, as they are nice and shiny

Nothing beats a little SR1 in steam, so much charm, character, SPEED! everything about them kicks arse!

Great machines MM, I forgot how fast they were, once I put the rubber band on the wheel it pulled the wagon with the camera in it very easily indeed.

The floor in my kitchen is lino, so you do not get the same amplification as your tiles. But where the join has opened in the lino that gives the usual clatter, or MUSIC.

The SR1 for me is yet to be matched by any other steam mobile!
I don't think you could make that roller any better than it is!

My quarry tiles make it sound loud, the camera on the wagon is near to the ground so picks up all the sound, the use of a rubber band on the drive wheel reallt helped it grip better - it has a tendancy to slip. I gave the wheels a quick polish after the run, although I always wipe the floor before I run any mobile.

Good thinking, it does not take much to damage those aluminium wheels.

Aye - quick! dont know what the scale speed would be, about 30-40 mph?
|

Yes probably. Just as well that real ones weren't that quick!

Boy!, that's fast, I like the idea of the rubber band for extra traction on the tiles. We have the same problem with speed cameras over here, typically put at the bottom of hills with a tiny A4 sign out the front after you've past the unit
Cheers .

I tighten the steering down to hold the same line. Cats are not the least bit interested!
