Nut & bolt or just bolt?

On a N&B SR1 or TE1 (I don't think they ever did a N&B SW1), do the screws arround the smokebox have nuts on the inside, or is the boiler flange tapped? Ditto for the screws holding the engine frame onto the firebox?

I have a N&B SR1 but I haven't taken it apart yet. I'm debating whether to use screws or rivets on my Steam Dray. I'd like to use screws but not if it needs contortions and matchstick fingers to assemble.

The bolts at the front around the smoke box are just bolts thet screw in. the ones in the firebox have nuts under them.

Thanks MM. Mine was originally riveted and I think the holes are too big to tap. It looks as if I'll have to use rivets again for the smokebox. I've already sorted something for the firebox.

I'm getting an N&B TE1 soon, can you still get the screws spare?

I've not found a place that does replacements

I'm sure somewhere will do them

If I was a betting type, I'd say they are probably standard 6BA.
