If it's farmer style it would be that or a bent, rusty nail holding something together.

James prefers to use bailing twine.

Twine burns and then it would all fall apart.
Sheesh James, pack it up and send it here, I will paint it up royal.
You might have a hard time getting it back though

"Pardon? whats an SE4?"

Well, dad were tightning the union nut up on the engine frame... SNAP.
The thread on the frame sheared off inside the union nut
I had to knock the end cap off an old SE2 boiler, nab the thread out of the top of that (the same type but not the same shape), nab the union nut off it (filed it to look curved like the old ones) and soldered it back on!!
It don't look very good, but oh well, at least I admit my soldering is shite, not like some who paste it all over their engine and think they are God's gift to soldering!!
Pics in a bizzle!

Spray a bit of that paint into a small jar and then you can use an artists brush and carefully touch up the area of the repair, I bet the repair would almost become invisible.
I know that it had to be heartbreaking when it happened though, I bet your Dad was really feeling bad.

... looks great, Jim! Seeing your job here, I wanna have one, too! What does a machine like yours cost, Jim? In the condition when you got it?
Cheers, mate!

You won't get an SE4 for less than 400 quid these days. In good original condition around the 500 mark!

Everybody jumps to your defence when people are taking snide swipes at you. Dont you feel it would be appropriate for you not to do the same. This and other threads are littered with remarks about one particular SE4. It does not take a genius to work out who owns it. Just leave it please
Cheers

Mistakes happen, he's restored it to a higher standard than S4F thats for sure!

Tough luck on the union thread...I think every one of us have, through error or
accident, screwed up and made something a bit less than what it was before
we got hold of it.
But the repair looks strong and the resto is looking good. Man, they sure
are a fabulous looking engines. So, fire it up!

I remember the frenzy of sales that went on when this was transpiring. Well worth the loss of the engines sold though, this one is a real keeper.
Still wanting more and better photos and a Video.

I know, I just bought two Jensens for about that price, and it was well worth it.
If I ever needed the money, they could always be sold for that, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
