how to fix this Scotch Yolk connecting rod?this is from an old scratch built Scotch Yoke double acting steam engine.
The bar that connects to the eccentric roller to the sliding valve is broken.
It was connected with a grub screw and silver soldered, but the screw is threaded and I'm not sure this was the best solution anyhow.
Do you think I need a new part made, or is this repairable?

I'd be tempted to try and resolder it.....

I too would go with solder. If its steel then weld it

I would try to re-solder it and if that doesn't work then have a new piece made.

Silver solder and it'll be as good as new!

You wont loose much by resoldering it- you will need clean surfaces though

is is possible to fill the holes with solder and then re-thread?
this join takes quite a bit of stress.

Solder should hold it, solder can hold quite a bit of stress.

Solder should be fine I think.... certainly worth a try.

Model steam boilers are generally silver soldered with working pressures over 100psi, its more than strong enough for the repair
