Here is what it looks like:
Found on this website (Note in alphabetical order).

I want it.

Contact the website.
Have you found any other owners like the one I found. I was having a lot of trouble finding this one.

Nick

I guess it is a museum though, so they probably wouldn't sell it.
|
Les
|
They could let have it on permanent loan.

Ebay has a wanted section that I think is free. Check it out and give it a try.

Thanks for that, it is now posted and I eagerly await a response.

I just wonder how many people actually check them.
Was it free and easy to do?

It was easy to do, and free as far as I know, as to checking them, well I've been a member of Ebay for about two years and it's the first I've heard of it.

I can't even find it now, how do you get to it. They keep changing things.
|
Les
|
Its a bit fiddley. On the feft hand side of Your ebay summary, there is a Want It Now legend. Click on that and try to follow the instructions. I did not find it straight forward at all, but it is free so I will just see if anything comes of it.

There it was, staring me in the face.
It used to be on the homepage, easy to find.

I like the wording for that Museum's lathe - It is molded from a hard, black plastic similar to bakelite . So was it not bakelite that they used then?

I was lucky, mine had the box and the instructions.
You need to connect a 4V battery to terminals T1 & T2 of the coil (the terminals at the end) The contact breaker (the knurled bolt touching the thin strip) should vibrate. If it doesn't, flick it slightly. You may need to adjust the bolt until it just touches the strip.
The further you push the rod into the core, the higher the effect.
If you want a photocopy of the instructions PM me with your address and I will send them to you.

Cheers for that, thats great! Although I think the rod is missing on mine.

That doesn't help, try it without the rod just to see what happens.

And when you've all stopped playing about.
Congratulations Les, looks like a great piece, great condition and worthy of the long wait you've had to endure.
Commendations to John for helping a member who otherwise would have had to stay up til after 2 am for an item that wouldn't ship out of the the continental US.
This effort epitomises the very best of what this forum has to offer.
Heartfelt commendations to all involved.
We need more of this type of cooperative collaboration.
