Unknown Verticle engineWell here it is, the unknown verticle engine bought from ebay recentley. The complete model with chimney stands just above 13 inches high. It seems to have been built from both english and german parts. The firebox is stamped ' made in england' but the cast base, which includes a brick work pattern, looks very german. The sight glass also looks german, perhaps Bing. The boiler is fitted with a centre flue.
However the boiler fittings and engine are very British in design. The safety valve and whistle are identical to those found on Swan steam plants. The safety valve fits my Swan horizontal engine. the same cast frame design has also been used and the flywheel is also identical to the Swan.
The piston is also intresting because it isn't solid but hollow with the conneting rod screwed in.
Take a look at the Verticle engine pictures and my Swan and see what you think. I'm stuck!!!!
