Wanted - valuation information: Jensen 15BLJust posting this here instead of writing the same PM to the 3 people I know for sure who could answer this...
I am in touch with someone who has a Jensen 15BL generator for sale.
He knows they are somewhat rare and desirable, but neither he nor I know what a fair price would be for one.
Assuming that it is in good clean condition, with no box, what's the most that I should offer?
I already know what I would use it for

Mark, I bought a "like new" 15BL in late 2007 (Jensen 15 generator equipped with ball bearings on the shaft for those who might not know what it is). I paid seller $120 which was price he'd paid a few years earlier...it was a private deal not eBay...he was happy, I was happy.
I personally might go as high as $140 USD, but no more. The performance is virtually indistinguishable from a standard 15 which can be had new from Yesteryear for $93 USD. You are just buying the ball bearings...but in reality you are buying something that is no longer made...hence collectible.
Jensen stopped making them 2-3 years ago, so yes...hard to find, but not impossible.

Ah. He was in touch with Mr J, apparently, and got told they sold for something like $150.
I bet the price goes up from there...
I just had a specific use for it where I need that extra pulley.. I'm interested in it for the function, rather than the collectible nature of it.

If something that isnt that old sells for new price, it is a good deal for the seller. So if you want it badly, and get it for $150, I would say that both parties did well.
Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and the sign of a good deal is when both parties walk away with a smile.
