starting them youngToday my mum was watching her godson son who loves steam engines so of coures he wanted to play with mine so I steamed up my SR1A for him to use outside but he could not keep up with it (hes only 4 ) so I steamed up my wilesco smoky for him which is a lot slower so he spent some time playing with that until its was time for his tea after that he spent some time playing with my vintage clockwork engine then my pop pop boat which he loved the most and played with it until it was time for him to go home.
he loves trains to and kept asking about the garden railway even caught him walking around the trackbed making train noises bless him
I hope I have sewn the seed that will keep him interested in steam for a long time.
look at that steam plume

My Two cousins one of which is autisic the other a girl are really into trains and steam engines and the girl also likes my Static engines! Ive definatley sewn the seed i think because between them they have about 400+ train related items
Sewing the Seed young is the BEST thing you can do! my gradparents done it to me! Like they say now after we've finished our time in restoration and heritage and are too weak and feeble to continue thes lot are the Fresh Blood!

good man, its nice to see people being encouraging towards the younger generations.
This is something I always try to do at the GCR if we have a party train in the morning. Let the birthday kid sit on the tender with my hat on, let their parents photo them, and then point to the dangly chain and say "pull that". You then watch them fall over backwards in surprise
Once again, well done

I have a four year old son, Thomas, he loves all my steam engines and if he is good I will let him have my SR1 or TE1a to push around like a play toy and he makes the steam and whistle noises and stops every now and then to pretend to put coal and water into it.
Of course he loves my trains and my blue Mamod he has named 'Thomas'. I also have another son who is one on Saturday 'James' so I have a wreck of a Mamod loco that I'm just getting the parts together for that will be completely stripped and repainted red of course as it will become 'James'
