My beautiful JennyHere we are ... my lovely Jenny Wren engine in all her glory.
The 50p coin is just over an inch in height.
Enjoy ...

Pete, welcome to the "PhilCraft" club...I have the horizontal "Lilliput" and it runs with that same precision.
Delightful pieces the love to run!

A beautiful little engine that runs very sweetly.

Yes indeed ... I just love the engine. First saw one at the STiA and it was a 'must have'.

Or to be more exact, £70

Actually a little bit more than £70 ... but certainly well worth every penny.
Roli, I did think about getting the Lilliput but my heart was set on getting a Jenny ... it is just so beautifully proportioned. According to Phil, my Jenny is slightly different in that is has an exhaust tube.

Great video mate.
They are beautifully engineered little engines.

I bought my Jenny Wren engine from the man himself ... Phil Gravett. His email address is: philgravett@hotmail.com. I think Phil posted a thread on the forum not so long ago but I can't remember where.
Pauly, the engine runs on meths ... just a few cc's worth in a tiny burner. Imagine half a dozen or so 5p coins laid on top of each other ... that's the size of the meths burner. The engine also comes with a tiny funnel for filling the boiler.

thanks does she come to a boil really quickly with such a small water capacity

I pre-boil the water in a pan before transferring the water into the engine (using a syringe and small funnel). It only takes a few minutes to come up to steam.

Re: My beautiful Jenny
Great video Pete,
I bought both the Jenny Wren and the Liliputt from Phil.
They have been a long time getting here. (Over a month). I received a parcel pick up slip in my mailbox on Friday. I think they have finally arrived.
Seeing your video has only made me more excited.
Exquisite miniatures.

I use the microwave, but it's the same principle for all engines. Use your fuel for steaming the engine, not heating the water.

I generally microwave my water, however sometimes I let the Jensens heat the water from cold. I remember seeing Rangers Steam area in a video and he had a Mr Coffee dedicated for the purpose, another good idea, especially if you plan on steaming more than one engine. Blast those Xboxes, Ranger was a good fixture around here.

I have found with the Lilliput, it takes no more time to let the 3 ml burner heat the water to a boil...then with syringe top off the burner "tank" for the run...burner tank only goes 5 minutes or less at a full burn. I think with something so small, the process of preheating, transferring by syringe and tightening the tiny "hot" filler nut is more hassle than a double burn.
But experimenting is the fun of it all. I found my tank held 9 ml of water when totally full, so I fill to 6 ml for a run knowing that allows enough headroom to build a bit of steam.
Fun little engines. I hope Phil goes back into Beam engine making mode, he thought he might this summer.
