easy to make cylinderHas anyone got some plans for a cylinder I can easily make for my gas engine that I can make from readily available materials.
(something that doesnt require soldering)

A short length of pipe or tubing with a cap on one end.

If it's not going to get hot you can literally use anything....plastic will do. Maybe a cut-down felt tip or something....as long as you can get two tubes that are a sliding fit, you can make a piston out of the smaller one by filling it with epoxy putty and setting a conrod in it

A short piece of Brass rod that just fits in the tubing. You migh have to fit it in a drill and sand the diameter down enough for it to slide freely.

MF gas in CO2 not petrol or methanole.
IN australia they made a toy car you could buy called 'Air Jammer' I think it had a plastic container that you connected a small hand pump to and pumped it up and then it had a simple engine made from plastic that would be driven on this air pressure. The cars would actually go pretty fast for about 10 or 15 meters on a tank of air.
I picked on up a couple of years ago for under $10 from a toy shop for my son (unfortunaetly its broken now) but if you can get one of those cheap that will give you a good engine designed to run on air pressure.

We're not talking about combustion here mate...AFAIK this will be a CO2 or just air engine.
Maplins actually sell a little perspex kit that runs with a little hand pump....powers a LED and everything.

I live near a really big one (was that the one you went to?), so if you ever want anything I'll pick it up for you, easy!
This is the "steam engine" I was on about:

I wish, I did miss one of these Westbury Master Pieces for £100 at an auto jumble once I did get to hold it though.

You can buy Brass Tube where one slide is a sliding fit into the next size up, and metric brass rod that'll fit. If you check the sizes you should be able to make a nice smooth running little cylinder and piston.
Squires Models sell a lot of brass sections. I've bought the tube and rod from them in the past.
