Visit to Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge RailwayI went to the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway today. It was interesting to see a little section of temporary rail set up where they were extending a siding to the rear of the station.
There was a small industrial accident too when one of the Hudson Tippers went off the end of the rails and fell over the end of the embankment too - much to the amusement of the spectators!

There were some Locos in steam too:
Unfortunatley this loco had a problem - it's regulator housing was cracked and it had to be withdrawn from service to be replaced with a Diesel Hauled service.
This was a very charming industrial steam loco, pulling a rake of Hudson Tippers, the volunteers were rebuilding one of the platforms and using the tippers and flat wagons for removing the materials.
There was also this little De-Winton Loco, not in steam but shunted out of the sheds for the public to see

Exactly, pre-set bends welded onto pressed steel sleepers, carried on a little flat wagon and then manhandled into position to lay an instant railway!
I think i've got to give that a try! It was fun to see the little Lister wheelslipping it's way up the ramp too. It had to go for a run up and then take it at speed to get the tipper over it!

Of course, Well worth a visit! Only a short length of line, but some interesting locos and a good example of how a proper industrial NG railway used to function too. Plus they have a great example of a Baldwin Loco.

This really reminded me of one of the dioramas pauly has been setting up on his garden railway...
Manhandling the Tipper after it left the end of the track...

Some great pics Alan, I will be visiting during their gala in the Autumn on my return from Telford.
The Baldwin is a very nice loco, I went to see it in steam before it was officially launched into service:
