Scorpion SVIt looks like my wife needs a new car so I'm going to have to atleast make an effort to part self fund my hobby so I started tonight by making a safety valve for another forum member.
This will pay for a reamer I want to get to make a new tool that I'm hoping will help me get set up to cut basic gears.
On the left is an original Scorpion SV and the right my reproduction.
I'm not happy with the spring so I will be removing a couple of loops off it and stretching it further tomorrow night to put a bit more tension on the SV.
Other than that its finished.
I must be getting faster as this one only took me 3 hours to make.
I've still got a long way to go before I'm ready for mass production.

Excellent Job Tony.
What about turning your talents to producing some Bowman ones???

This one will actually fit a Bowman engine as its the same thread size but if your after a Bowman SV.
I recommend Toy Train Spares.

He is in the UK and I can't compete with the price he can make them for

Yes with three hours, it will take some time to pay for your wifes car, I hope she will settle for a used one

I will be a used one.
New cars are just too expensive.
We don't get ice on the road here so no salt on the road means cars last longer here. A car 4 or 5 years old can be almost half the price of a new one but just as good.

Knurling in brass is easy.
Basically you just keep mashing the knurler deeper into the brass until it forms the coorect shape.
Steel is not so easy to do as its harder and you need to skim the rod and try it to see if its right and if not skim it again.
I don't like knurling steel on my lathe but brass is fine.
