Driving me Mad SORTEDHi everyone,
I'm in the process of making a oiler from my Arrow. I have a tube (3/8" diam brass) that will be the tank but am looking for a type of top, ideally brass, that will fit or screw onto the top of the tube. Can I find anything suitable ... nope ... is it driving me mad ... yep
Does anyone have any ideas? ... perhaps spare brass nuts (and bolts) that I could use.
Many thanks
Pete

I could turn you a cap that would fit that you could solder in?

Pete, hardware stores in the US sell brass lamp parts, finials etc. that can work perfectly for such a thing. I made a meths tank filler plug for my Old Smoky conversion from such parts...works beautifully.

Just a thought,
Could you get a brass nut over size, turn it down to fit and you would have a threaded top to put a brass bolt stopper into.
Just an idea

Hello again,
Not taken enough notice of the question, I have a large bits box and every thing without question that is odd , left over, found , picked up or given gets put in that tub. It's always useful.
There are a number of engineers suppliers on ebay that do small quantities of nuts and bolts. We have an amount of engineering suppliers / hardware shops locally that you can buy single items from.
Also thinking, what about the piston assemly form inside a ballcock, plumbers merchants.
Hope this helps
