Bremner Garrett

I was lucky enough to get two accessories of Manx (Chris) today   ,  and considering that he only posted them yesterday that is pretty good going by the post office.

They are a British manufactured, and the first one is a Circular Saw made by Bremner Garrett.

Les

The second one is a Bremner Drophammer.

Les

Chris and I was hoping that one of my unidentified accessories was a Bremner Garrett.
Unfortunately now that the two Circular Saws are together you can see the small differences between them.

The profiles and heights are slightly different.

The shape of the arches and feet do not match.

The sawblades are different as well.

Les

Although my original unidentified accessories are still unidentified.

Still here are all four together.

Wallace

Nice ones Les

I think I have the BG windmill

I would love to see that, could you post a picture at some time please. Thank you.
Wallace

Will do   .

Not in the best condition though
Atticman

Interesting how similar they both are yet not quite the same.

Could it be like Mamod they slightly altered the tooling thus the end product differs, though not by much

See I wondered about that as well. They are very close. Could it be that your original Table Saw is from the Bremner only period and your new one from the later Bremner Garrett period.

What we need is more information.
MooseMan

Anybody know any more about Bremner Garett? My mate Paul has a whole workshop of the stuff.....

I would like to think that they are the same maker, just from different periods.
Unfortunately I have no proof yet.

Les- Paul was at STIA, and there are a few pics of his great workshop on there I think- I think that Moose has some pics as well.

Paul has some great Geman engines as well as a lovely Carest (amongst others)
MooseMan

Les, I haven't got any pics of Paul's workshop, but I know there is a saw, a drop hammer, a line shaft and another piece.....I've not seen Paul for a bit as he's just moved, but I'll try and get some pics next time we hook up.

Did it look something like this?
It was sold at auction last year.

A rare Bremner Garrett, Leiston accessory plant comprising; circular saw, hammer, fan and line shaft, driven by a Rota Mota Junior (Illus.)

Sold for £22

COLLECTORS' MODELS SALE
The Auction Centre
18 August 2007

This is the only information I have found so far.
Les

I have just managed to get this Bremner Garrett Windmill, although the sail blades are not original. Whoever made them though did a good job so I am going to leave it as it is for now.

Sandman

Interesting stuff.
