Good label reading ...but thank goodness No..
Les

A Bowman ????????????????????????
mogogear

Less  wins the prize!!

Here She is

Miss America

[img][/img]

Her hull is a little rough- with blue and greens layers under the brown--some lateral cracks in the sides

She may need a pretty extensive restoration to the hull, rebuild the burner pipe, a fly wheel and a cylinder and piston, propeller and windscreen..Oh well I love a project
MooseMan

Oh me oh my........
Les

I can envisage the restoration already.

Hers She comes, Miss America

I knew you were tracking along on the right track also John..I figure the beauty pageant shot would make it worth the hand lens--

Sorry to hear your eyes are giving you a hard time.

I know I will be asking Bowman ( Sandy ) for some shots - measurements, a tracing or two and a link to his photobucket album of his Miss America.. there is a lot to figure out!!

My ultimate goal would be to get my boat looking like his. I can say I have not found a better example anywhere else in the world that is photo documented~

So I think she is about a 1923-1925 model at this point..Finally a Bowman I don't have to repair holes in the bottom of the hull- and then drill holes right back though the hull again..
Burnmafingers

This is going to be a fair old project I'd imagine.
Look foward to the updates!

Looks great, Greg!   Quite a classic!

(and quite a project, though I'm sure you'll handle it with your usual patience and skill!   )

Ha- Richard that is a rare one...!! But thanks --I am just a mad tinkerer...that is either too thick headed to know better or glutton for these little boats..the latter is most likely correct..and the former a given

I sure hope I can get the angle and look of the spray shield right--It really defines this boat IMHO

excellent purchase mo! those bowmans are beautiful aren't they?
kusuchi

Mad Tinkerers are often the most inspired.     I have absolute confidence in your abilities and, after much effort and deliberation on your part, look forward to seeing the spectacular results!
RocDoc

Wow, what a boat Mo ... you must be well chuffed!!  She is a stunner.

I'm sure she'll turn out looking utterly fantastic in your capable hands.

There was a lovely one at STIA this year- the guy was a real gent- we had the same loco. He does know Fred Crammond well, and he would possibly supply furthur pics as well.
His was a light blue. There was evidence of a sail in the pool there, with a black oil slick on her

I did get a photo but it isnt a good one

That really will be a cracker though. Such elegance
duncandumpertruck

Nice looking boat! Good buy. I look forward to the progress on it. I like to live vicariously on the progress that others make in their engines compared to mine all sitting stagnant!

Well in this case I would need to have an "engine"   to make progress--

I am compiling a list of "requests" that I need to make on the limited members that actually have a Miss America...only two I think..

I may divide the re-build into TWO sections-

1. HULL /  Windscreen / paint schemes

2. Engine / burner / prop / rudder tiller

Mo

Me thinks you be a mite overbooked, what with your new Miss America project and all. Thus it would only be logical for you to send off your recent lapstrake acquisition to me, since your new gal won't be giving you any spare time to pay Miss Clinker Built any attention at all!          (hehehe)

And then I woke up!!!
mogogear

Did you know I still have the "Q" project boat going  also in line ahead of the Clinker hull..?

Luckily I have finished up on the Snipe( the box is still yet to build) and my Pt Boat has been run and just needs a small leak at the prop shaft checked and some numbers put on for PT 188 effect.

I suspect that I will skip the clinker for now and let it stew... and start on the hull of the Miss A

Your are welcome to drop in for shop time and a beer any time!!
Stoker

I have run into posts on the "Q-boat" but was unaware of the Snipe and PT.

Just reinforces my original thought!!! (hehehe)
