Another intro - Graham and JillyA quick intro from Graham and Jilly.
We live in Brisbane Queensland – great place to live and visit. Both in our mid 50ies (lordy that sounds old ) and we have 2 adult children each from our first marriages. Graham has 2 grandchildren and a third on the way. We share the house with the two dogs who appear in the vids, a cat and 2 birds.
We spent 14 months in the UK just after our marriage four years ago and it was such a wonderful time that we are plotting and planning a return in our 5 year plan. We would like to buy a motorhome/caravan and tour the UK and Europe for as long as we can manage, and then import the motorhome back to Australia.
Graham has had many careers – Army, plumber, computer technician and now he is a telecommunications officer for a local government. He also enjoys ham radio, being in a bagpipe band and going to the Australian Rules Lions matches. I am a social worker for a federal government agency. I enjoy music, reading and collecting paperweights from Scotland.
Graham has always loved steam engines and they are a new passion for me. Our collection has grown very quickly since the beginning of 2007 (thanks to Ebay) and we are planning on having an IndianaRog type of collection where we will buy, do up sell some on and keep things turning over until we have some nice collectables. We love the Forum and have learned so much from the wisdom of others. I think it has also cost us a fortune as it has encouraged us to buy share and enjoy.
That's it from us --thank you for reading --Cheers Graham and Jilly

G-J,
Dang, this intro thing is turning into a most fascinating thread. Thanks for sharing...learned a thing or two...heck, you two are almost newlyweds!!!
Not sure my collecting approach is the right one to pattern on, but I do love to acquire, spiff up, keep the best and turn the rest!!! It is a most fascinating hobby and it's been fun watching you two come up the curve fast and furiously. I do believe you are the only husband/wife team I know of, who are both into collecting steam.
Great to have you folks along for the ride,
Cheers,
Rog

A great plan you have there G-J. The Motor home is a good idea.
I am envious of you.
BTW, when you tour Europe, be sure to visit the Alpine regions of Austria and Switzerland. Beautiful scenery.

Take some engines on your trips with you and you can be a traveling steam show.
A miniature steam fair.

Nice to know a bit about you both Graham and Jilly. Scottish paperweights sounds like one of those strange yet very interesting hobbies. Do you mean that they are made out of many different types of minerals that are native to Scotland?
