Another one! About meCould it be that I am the oldest, born in 1943? I was born in Royal Lemington Spa, but moved to Leeds when I was just 6 weeks old and have lived here every since.
I saw my first engine when I was about 7 and wanted one, but haveing a very strict upbringing I was not allowed as it meant playing with matches. No pond yachts, in case I fell in the canal-- good excuses from my mother.
Now at my age I started collecting a few engines, which was almost a life long ambition, no mother to stop me now.
Unlike all the younger members, who were brought up with keyboards, I am strictly a one finger -- where's the next letter -- man. As you will guess I have not typed this, I recruited my wife (Christine) to do it for me.
Hope to get more involved in single lined comments in the future. I will post some pictures of my collection in the next few days.

Tony!
Hope you are enjoying the forums! Not sure you are the oldest, possibly! Not a bad thing though!
I look forward to seeing your collection
Practice with the typing and you'll get better
Cheers, MM.

Hi Tony,
Glad you took a moment to fill in the gaps (thanks to Christine for the keyboard work as well!).
I KNOW you are not the oldest on this forum, but we seem to transcend the generations with our love of toy steam...so who's counting!!!
With time if you plink away enough, you will get faster at the keyboard. I myself am pretty fast at a keyboard, but when my adult kids send me text messages on a cell phone, I am "one finger Willie" trying to peck out a response...to quote another famous Willie..."I feel your pain".
Again, good hearing from you.
cheers,
Roger

Welcome to the Forum Tony.
I too am a one finger typist, on a good day I can get two fingers tapping away
Trust me it does get easier, especially when you get to know where the letters are

Hmmmm. Hello Tony.
Welcome to the forum.
I was also born in 1943.
Moved to Brighouse (near Leeds) after the war.
Saw my first engine when at junior school.
Type with 1(+) fingers.
Have a wife named Christine!
