"Marklin" and "Stabil" Clockwork motors

I recently got that marklin clockworkmotor from an internet ad, together with other stuff...First thing i unpacked was a massive wind-up key, and i thought "who put that in, this surely does not belong here, more to an old hall clock"
But to my surprise that belonged to the marklin motor....
After cleanup and well oiled with WD40 it suddenly startet to work...it nearly fly off....fully wind up it goes exactly 4 minutes.
It has a stop lever, a reverse lever for both shafts and a second gear, wich makes the shaft go faster or slower....
The red plates of it are heavy steel, about 2mm thick.

The second motor I bought on a flea market this sunday, together with an old creators set calles "Walter's Stabil Baukasten", maybe some of you know it....I paid 20 euro's for the set and motor.
The motor is a bit smaller but more powerfull, you hardly can stop the shafts by hand....well wind up it goes about 10-15 minutes (!)
It hat a small reversind lever wich only makes ONE shaft rotate backwards.

Also note the detail pics, they show how the makers used to regulate the speed of the clockwork motors.

I will sell the stabil creators set on ebay, but will keep the motors..so cool

Geez, didn't realise it was so big until I saw the photo of you holding it.
It is considerably larger than the Meccano reversing motor.
I hope you plan on building something to put it in, it would be a shame to have that and not use it.

I don't really know anything about the Marklin building sets but if the rest is built like that motor it must be good stuff.

The only problem is: i do not have the plans for the models with clockwork motor...
So maybe i find something in the internet.

Why do you want plans? I've never made anything using meccano from a plan. Let your imagination do the planning for you!

Just tested the stabil clockwork motor, how long it would run....
Believe it or not....20 minutes steady work

That is amazing.

I had no idea they could run so long.

They're very nice motors Mirko! I have several Meccano clockwork motors of various types and ages, but nothing like that.
