Thoughts please...I am thinking of doing something a long the lines of 'STIA in the South' at Amberley Working Museum for next year's event calendar. Of course it wouldn't have that title. I'm hoping to meet up with the Museum Director at some point and see if he would give me approval for the event. I will then send out invites to the well known Toy Steam traders such as Steam4Fun and Forest Classics, then you get the general jist of it.
Would people from here be interested in coming if it got approval? Tell me of your thoughts and opinions (good or bad...)

I would love to go to any event like that but its a little too far for me to come.
If you do go ahead with it I would also send invites to some Meccano clubs as Meccano and toy steam goes together so well.

That is a thought. I know someone who regularly attends shows in the South with a Meccano display

Come MM, I used to drive longer than that just to go to work on Monday morning a few years back.
But to be fair on Mondays we had a late start 9:30am instead of 7:30am.

It's a great idea Simon, but then, surely the Old Kiln Toy Steam event is really the STIA in the south, pehaps it'd be better placed towards the end of the year so you don't cross paths?

Aye, sort of November/October time like. when we don't have alot to do! Although I ain't keen on the swear word "S**thern" being used in the title

You can stay over at Amberley if you wish. Either in one of the buildings (if there is room!) or a tent, car etc.

Enter your village/nearest town in the 'From' box, and Amberley Working Museum in the 'To' box:

That's perfectly big enough MM, even to big. You could sit on the back of a Mamod SW1 on the M25 and still keep up with the traffic in the "fast lane"
Sounds good Si, only 35 miles for me

Nah, don't believe in wallpaper. When you need to remove it it takes an age to do so, plus you can vary the colour if you use paint

Thoughts on a title for the event please! Bearing in mind:
It is a toy steam event including all companies, so it cannot have one specific company in the title.
It is likely to be held in the autumn, at Amberley Working Museum.

Once those in the Office have appointed a new Marketing Director, I will take my idea to him/her. I will speak to Forest Classics in early February at Brighton ModelWorld, and email those whom I do not see in the meantime. I will be seeing Chas on March 22nd, so will talk to him then about it

Those in the office have appointed a new Marketing Director, so I hope to speak to her the very next time I am at Amberley.
Colin Laker has very kindly put a little bit about the event written by myself into a new part added to the S.T.E.A.M. magazine, which will be news on Toy Steam in general such as events.
