IndianaRog's PhilCraft Lilliput miniature engineOK...finally got this one video captured after letting the engine run in half a dozen times. Runs like a clock, but so smooth you really have to look to see that it's running. It makes a soft purring noise which is there if you listen carefully.
Learning point with running this engine was the importance of burner/flame placement. In my still pics I show the burner pushed into the firebox with the burner tank sticking out half way...it WON'T run in that position. Burner tank must be set approx. 1/2 inch out from the firebox, thus centering the burner itself under the center of the boiler. THEN it will run beautifully. 6 cc's of water in the boiler, 3 cc's of meths in the burner...light and start up in about 3 minutes. Run time 4-5 minutes. I can refill the burner tank 3 times for each boiler refill. Found a syringe works perfectly for keeping the water volume correct.
Very pleased with this tiny jewel:

Wow that thing is almost silent! Very impressive little beast.
Another item to put on the to buy once they draw my Lotto numbers
The marble sets it off nicely and a tube of Simichrome would last a lifetime on that one.

Great runner Rog I can't wait until I run my Jenny Wren
If you don't mind me saying, are you feeling OK? Your voice sounds a bit gravelly compared to that in your other videos

Not to worry, I am fine, I just spent an hour hovered 6 inches over my Lilliput breathing meths fumes as it was running...I think it gave me a gravely voice, but all cleared up now. Thanks for asking!

A generous application of Single Malt will cure that gravely voice

Wow.
That boiler doesn't look a whole lot larger than a Jensen 20 cylinder.
I can just imagine it driving a set of tiny factory tools

I want one!
That marble base really added to it.
I like how it isn't painted, so all that's required is a little polish.

Just added pics, video and writeup to my website covering the Lilliput...here's the link:
http://www.indianarog.com/allotherengines.htm#173238633
In the website pics, I've removed the small burner retention ring I had epoxied onto the marble base, as noted earlier, I found under real running conditions the burner tank must set back about 1/2 inch from the firebox face for optimum performance. Don't know if this applies to the Jenny Wren design, but definitely key to the Lilliput.
Richard...you can run yours right on the kitchen counter top to see how it looks before cutting a base...same goes for the granite pieces.

That engine really is a little jewel, just a faint hum whilst running along.
The marble base is a lovely addition, and complements the engine well, also engineered to the now well known standard of the Temple of Steam.

A fantastc runner and the base looks sooo good too.
I found the Jenny Wren is not so fussy about the burner position mainly because the base is smaller so fewer position options.
I agree with your burner comments on the Lilliput

Does the Jenny Wren run as quietly as well?

Just as quietly
My Jenny Wren is running at the end of Andy's film in the G&J in the UK thread

Just stunning! It's so exciting to see this sort of miniature perfection.
Kudos for your presentation, Rog! Kudos to Phil the Creator!
How does one reach Phil directly? What is his member name here?
Thanks for it all, Rog!
